question? anyone of you guys ever put on a 4 inch rear spaced 8 inch wide rim on their mavericks? i'm sure if your car has a shorted rearend or something cut if will fit. but i need if it will fit stock with no big mods.. and if you have what size tire where you using?

i had a 15 x8 with a 4-1/2 rear spaced rim on my car b4 but it hit the leaf springs with a 245 and 255.

i'm going with a 265/40-18 so its real important that i'm careful on ordering rims.

need this info quick so any mouths would be good on this one!

    thanks

Here is what I have on mine now.
rear wheels 17x8 w/ 235/45zr/17 tires, 9" rearend was cut to stock specs and I put 1" lowering blocks. Wheels backspacing is 4.5" and I have about an inch of clearance from the leafspring.

Front is like this, 17 x 7 wheels w/ 215/45zr/17 tires , cut one coil out of coil spring and dropped it 3". Backspacing on fr wheels are also 4.5 ".

I could have gone with a little wider back tire but I have been down the road of rubbing tires and having to be careful with weight in the car. Now I am going to have no problem whatsoever.
Also, we did not take the coil spring out of the car, just removed shock, then took coilspring compressor down the inside of the spring, then compressed enuff to be nearly free on the bottom, took cutoff wheel and cut exactly 1 coil off, done in 2 hours.
Good friend was a savior on this, and made the job real simple and the result was just what I wanted.

hum thanks... yeah sounds like it would work however i want a bigger look then a 235 and at least a 255 for the rear. so from what you said... it sounds like that would rub.

right now i have 255 rears and 245 front. and the smallest tire i can find in a 18 inch drag radial is a 265 for the rear. so i guess its still iffy.

but thanks maybe a 4 inch backspace would work.

anyone else out there got something other then a 3-1/2 rear spacing with a stock rear?

I have 255X60 15's on 8" rims with 4 1/2" backspacing on my Sprint. The rear was narrowed slightly. I did try them on my stock 77 just to see how they fit. The tire just barely touched the spring but the rest of the clearance seemed to be ok. If you put the same combo on with 4" backspacing, it will probably work but you may have to roll the fender lip up.

my current rims on the back are 15x9 w/ 4 1/4" backspacing with a 26x10" slick. Had to use a 5/16" spacer to get the sidewall off of the leaf spring.
