Man, Wheels have to be the hardest thing to pick, I've spent days looking around on the net, and have gone to every cruse night around, I still can't choose. I know I want something 18"ish on the rear, and 17 ish on the front....and not torque thrust, not that anything is wrong with them, but there are alot of cars with them already....my search continues.....
I am getting tired of my torque thrusts,, but I really never keep my car the same for too many years. Think I have had the same wheels for 3 years. I am on the hunt for new wheels but have not seen anything that trips my trigger either. My search also continues.
Not me, once the car is done, its done. (other than minor stuff) Too many projects to do to go back. Its funny how a wheel change can make such a drastic change in the appearance of a car.
hopsters or rodlites! I have been a wheel watcher for years...and one thing I noticed, some wheels look good when you go skinny in the front and big in the back....and some don't. I like my convo pros skinny/big....I saw a car (maverick) with big/big convo's and I did not like it. In the same respect, some wheels look better big/big verses little/big..... I completely understand it is a tough decision! Wheels will deteremine the attitude/character of the car. IMO
I don't know exactly the look you are going for, but I have seen some wheels that look interesting... 1967 Shelby Magstars... They look great in 15x7, but now they are also being repopped in much larger sizes like 17 & 18. If you get lucky, Mercury also used the Magstars on several run of the mill cars back then. Occaisionally you can find a set of those use if price is a factor. The Merc version was slightly different in dish size from the Shelby, so they don't get snapped up for Shelby restos, especially now with the repops. Good old slots, or ovals, or whatever you call them. They are coming back, and AR has some larger diameters now. Call them 'Ansens'. Halibrand style rims. Being repoped from several sources and available in wide variety of sizes from 15x4 to 18xsomething... Edelbrock just discontinued a line of rims based on some Halibrand styles, but I bet there are NOS still on the shelves. 1965 GT 350 Cragars... Not huge diameter, only 15s, but look better than any other Cragar out there. Repopped. 1969-70 Shelby rims. 15x7. Definately different than anything you see on a Mav. Repopped. Just some thoughts. Dave
Oh yeah, can't believe I forgot these. I would love a set 15x5 front, 15x7 rear... but I don't think it is in the cards. Have also thought that 16x5.5/17x7 would be neat.
For some reason, I have never owned a car that I kelp the stock wheels on it. I guess it's a way to personalize something that you can call your idea. Painting a car has the same effect. You can paint a car or change the wheels & the car looks different. Nice idea Ratio411 on the wheel sizes.
yeah i like torque thrust but they are just way to played out! just go with a updated classic look over a newer fad design.
Billet Magnums series 94 from Wheel Vintiques. They come in 17 " and 18". They are the be all-end all for Mavericks & Mustangs. $400 each...
