Usually into the inside of the drum from a leaky wheel cylinder. I've had cars sitting for a year and the level stay the same and another one go real low beacause a wheel cylinder went bad.

    Does it have a booster??

If it has power brakes it might have leaked into it......

once I had some of my fraternity pals (this was 10 years ago) pull the brake cylinder cap off and splash fluid over the front of the wheels to make me think my wheel cylinders blew up.

only problem is I made them feel like sh1t after I told them they could have killed me, and that they were stupid anyhow because wheel cylinders leak to the backside of the wheel.

The real problem is there is no trace of the stuff on the ground.

Like someone said earlier. If it has a power brake booster it can leak into the booster and you never see it. If it don't have the booster and is connected directly to the firewall, check inside the mav where it comes though to see if the carpet is wet. Also if you don't see it on the ground, check the backsides of the brake backing plates and tires to see if wet. Another good way to narrow it down is to see which reservoir on the master cylinder is going dry. If its the big one, its the front brakes. If its the small one its the rear brakes.

P.S. If you think about it, there isn't much to the brake system. Just start at the master cylinder and visually check everything back. You may need to take the drums off.     :D ;) :p
