Any suggestions for where to put the jackstands under a Mav? I find that putting them where the stock jack "tabs" are located, or inboard on those things that like frame rails doesn't give you much room when pulling a tranny.

In the back I put the stands on each side of the differential on the tubes or under the u bolt/spring pads.

    Thanks. Tom

We always put them under the frame where the lower control arm mounts. The jackstand pads usually fit perfectly across both sides of it. Works great, even when pulling the 2 speed transmission. Gives just enough room to slide a jack in between them if needed to support the engine (which is not normally needed as the 302 engine mounts are dead center on the engine) yet provides enough support on both sides. Either that or under the crossmember where the radiator is, but they can move around on that smooth surface there.

I always get mine high enough in the air to get the tranny out form the side. Usually manuever it between the front tire and the fender well. It really makes it easy for me if I was not so lazy to just take the front tire off. Then there is plenty off room. Always my .02 pennies.
