No problem...no rolled lips either. Might look odd and tall in 70 series. Go 60 for a lower profile and nicer look.

The biggest I have seen with ABSOLUTELY no rubbing and no mods is 245/60r15. Be sure the backspacing doesn't push them against the inner fender well.

Will 10" wheels fit in the rear (given the right backspacing)?

What is the narrowest tire that can be put on a 10" wheel?

Anybody know max backspacing that will fit in the rear?

Please note the correction below...mine are 15X8, not 15X10. I don't think 15X10 will fit!!!

I have 255/60r15 on 15X8 Cragars. Only rub when I take off hard.

Had no rubbing issues with the same rims with 245/60s on them.

I am pretty sure it is 4-1/4" BS.

These are pics of the 255/60s...

Again, these DO rub on takeoff, but the 245s did not...

Thanks, I was going to ask more but found all the answers on your website (nice site btw).

    http://home.cmaaccess.com/~scodon/may2006.htm

I think I found 10" wide mag wheels that may fit my Comet.

Just hope the backspacing is close to 4-1/4".

The tires fit nicely in your car very close to what I was thinking. :thumbs2:

    Thanks man!

I am glad my site is valuable for someone. Lots of mistakes in my "on-line diary"

There so others won't make them(y)

Oh, and by the way, that is a 74 2 door with 7 lug rear, just in case it makes a difference...

I often sneak around your website at night stealing ideas (y).

I was going to make my own site, but you know I work as a webmaster, so probably I will never get around doing it :) .

Sorry guys, I have made a couple of mistakes here and need to clear it up.

my rims are 15X8, not 15X10, and of course, it is a 5-lug rear.

the 7-lug was a typo, the 15X10 was just poor memory. I went back and looked at my website while PMing someone, and noticed my error, and quickly came back here to clear it up.

Sorry to add to any confusion.

Furthermore, I seriously doubt that 15X10 will fit after rubber is put on them. I put a tape measure across the bottom of my tires and they are already at 10 or so inches, and I think if you took a 10" rim and put tires on them, they would rub all over. But I don't know this for fact...

Well 10's will fit but they do stick out a little. I test fitted some Cragar SST's on one of my parts cars today and here was the results. They had plenty of clearance behind them and didnt stick out as bad as you would think. If I'm not mistaken the tires are 255/45 R15's. BTW these wheels have about a 3-3 3/4 backspacing.

That doesn't look half bad, but with a low stance or dipping on take off and you have all kinds of rubbing...

Yeah thats where you would have to get a set of stuffer springs to make it set a little taller or arch up the fender lips to the second body line. Then it would look and work good!
