Well, I had a decent weekend score. I found these pony wheels for $100 in mint condition, I was originally picking them up for my mustang, but when I got there I found they were 5 lug pony's from a 94/95 mustang, and I need the older 4 lug versions.

These are 16 inch, 225/50 16 or so.

What about the damn pony in the cap? I guess I would have to deal with that.

Oh well, I was going to resell them to my sister, but thought maybe I could throw them on the mav. How do you all think it would look?? My mav is buried right now, or I would try it. Will these fit perfect? What would it take? Also, if I get a chance, maybe I will try it and snap a pic.

Yes they will fit but you will need spacers. The offset on the late model wheels set to far in and will rub on the upper ball joint cver on the A arm.

A guy here at March ARB has them on his maverick I will find out what size spacers he used.

Thanks thomas, I am pretty sure I have talked this over with you a while back. My sister wants the wheels, but if they look good on the mav, I may keep them. Do you have a pic of what spacers look like?? ANyhow, whatever is required to use them would be MUCH appreciated!!! Take care, Jeremy

If you use spacers get longer wheel studs too!!. If you don't you WILL break the studs and the wheel will brake off. Been there and done that and it aint no fun at freeway speeds. Especially when you see the tire and wheel passing by you. They can go for a mile if they don't plant themselves in someones windshield. A kid was killed here in Cerritos a few years ago when she was hit by a wheel that came off a car on the other side of the freeway(91) during rush hour.

Thanks for that tip hot rod bob. I am going to do a trial to see what one wheel will look like on it. I will do it some time this week and post a pic

They might look pretty good on a Mav but if you want them on your 4 bolt Mustang its easy and Cheap to convert to 5 lug. Get rotors for a Lincoln (I forget the year I can look it up if you like) and get 2 left side axles and brake drums from ford rangers.

Bad new the guy who has these wheel mounted to his maverick is on leave. I'm not sure when he will be back but I will post a picture of what they look like and the sizes of the spacers he used.

The spacers are not like the old days when you used longer studs. These spacers bolt to the hub and provide five more studes to mount the wheels. This is the safest way to mount late model wheels to old cars and the large spacer required. If you look at the kits avalible for older mustangs to mount new bullit wheel you will see what I'm talking about. One of the ends uses this type of spacer the other uses longer studs.

I bolted a set of these to my Mustang using 1" thick adapters, but 1.25" would have worked out better.

    The adapters looked like this:

DO NOT use those old cast POS adapters from the 70's or anything that just uses a longer stud! DANGER!

Billet adapters are available from H&R or Spidertrax that will be as strong as the wheel you bolt them to.

NICE!!!! thanks for all the pics and info! I love the way this is looking so far.

    http://www.spidertrax.com/drivetrain_whs.htm

that is where I found them. You used the 1" on yours, mustang six, but suggest the 1.25's, however, that was for a stang, is the mav the same?? What do you think thomas??

I cleared out my garage tonight...WHEW!!! And I can finally get to one of my maverick wheels, so I think tomorrow, I will throw a wheel on without a spacer since it is not running to see what it looks like, and I will upload a pic tomorrow!

    pics

Ok guys, here are a couple of pics. Please don't laugh at my situation, I have only been in this house a year and I can barely get in the garage, right where I am taking the pic, sits a parts car stripped to the bone, it is out finally on Sat, but damnit, I have another parts car coming in on Fri, oh well.

I couldn't bolt the wheel on because the studs were too short, is this part of why you need those spacers?? What do you guys agree on for spacers?? 1" or 1.25??? I have to have this car going by may, as my mom requested for mothers day.

Lastly, how do you think it looks?? You think it looks good or dumb? Of course it will have fresh paint to complement down the line. BTW, car is jacked up still, and not sitting on ground
