I want to get a pretty cheap compressor to use for a few things, mainly painting my comet. Will this compressor be enough to power a gravity fed spray gun? http://www.harborfreight.com/air-tools/oilless-compressors/1-3-hp-3-gallon-100-psi-oilless-air-compressor-97080.html
I want to use that with this gun, if possible. http://www.harborfreight.com/air-tools/paint/20-oz-high-volume-low-pressure-gravity-feed-spray-gun-47016.html
In my opinion no. The smallest hp compressor I have used successfully is a 3 hp. But that sucked so I tied 2 - 3hp compressors together and fed them into an old propane tank that I used as a reserve air. But I am sure somebody will chime in that they painted their car with a tire pump and a straw.
The gun says it uses 6 cubic ft. per minute and the compressor only puts out .6 at 90 and 1 at 40. So I'd say no way.
I wasn't in that great of a mood today, thanks for the laugh guys I'll have to try this one out, I bet it beats a 50 dollar paint job
That compressor will NOT provide enough volume to paint a little red wagon, much less your car. At the bare minimum you need a 3 hp compressor to use a HVLP gun and if you are using a standard bleeder gun then you need more compressor and a larger tank.
It doesn't look tall enough to be a 60 gallon tank and that compressor / motor is smaller than mine.....
Nope it's 60 gallon for sure. I got it on sale and it kicks butt except a couple of my air tools keep it busy....but I'm picky. It's made by Campbell Hausfeld. The reserve is great. http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc...splay?langId=-1&storeId=10051&catalogId=10053 Still working on the plumbing
