Does anyone have or have access to a wiring diagram for a 1987 Lincoln Town Car? I'm replacing the radio with a newer style and I don't know what wires correspond with which speakers. I went so far as to check the wire colors at each speaker but they don't all match up with the colors at the plug. If anyone has a diagram in their archives I'd sure appreciate the info.

    Thanks

    speaker wires.......

Use a test light find the igintion switch on,power, dimmer and ground

Then take a 9 volt battery, start touching the speaker wires together until you get a pop. To check polarity have a helper look at the speaker. If it pops downwards you have the polarity(neg/pos) backwad, if the speaker pops up it is right.

    Sam,

One of the few guys I will offer advice to on this forum.:thumbs2:

btw the pop will only happen once you have corresponding wires to a speaker matched up!!!!

Crutchfield.com has plugs you can hook up to your aftermarket radio and it will plug right into the factory wiring harness. I don't know if they still have them for a 1987....but they used to.
