Where's the throttle cable going to go? I'm planning on filling a few holes,, once my knee gets better, and I can work on my car again...

Maybe he's going to put in an LS motor with a fly by wire throttle. LOL

I just knew someone was going to ask that question, I am going to use a Lokar cable so I just need to drill a 5/16" hole now that the old ones are gone.....

Not gonna happen atleast with fool injection, it would have to be carbed if I did it..... :p

I wondered....I'm using the Lokar cable. I just knocked the fitting off a factory cable.

I picked up the material for the reinforcement sleeves, shock tower plate and pieces to make my motor mount towers.....
I was at the shop for a while this evening waiting for someone to drop a carb off I bought..... While I was waiting I did a little work on the car, I cut the reinforcement sleeves for the k-member bolt - got one cleaned up, welded in and ground smooth.....

Here's the first sleeve welded in and the other 3 cut off ready to be cleaned up.....

Here's the carb I bought, it's an old Barry Grant 675 Silver Claw(it's a dirty but seems to be in real good shape)..... It's probably a little small for the combo, but will make a good starter carb for it and for $125 I just couldn't beat the deal..... I will probably tear it apart tomorrow to see what it looks like inside.....

Went to the shop this morning and took the carb apart too see what it looked like..... Aside from being dirty it is in excellent shape and as a bonus it has completely adjustable air bleeds, idle feed restrictors and emoulsion circuits.....

After that I welded the reinforcent sleeves in the front frame for the k-member mounting holes..... Then I filled the unneccessary holes in and made a rust repair on the pass side rear fender apron..... Last thing I did was clean up the upper insides of the quater panels and roof rails where they were bare metal from the factory and surface rusted, then coated them with POR15.....

Here's the sleeves being installed..... First pic is the sleeve in place with a rod sticking out of it for squaring and alignment purposes, the second is with it welded to the bottom of the frame and the last is with the weld ground smooth.....

Thanks for sharing all these pictures with us Frank. Great work!

Do you have any tips on "must have" tools from places like Eastwood, when getting our cars down to bare metal??? Like a short list that includes sandpaper block types, wirebrush types, special tools etc. I know most of it is elbow grease.

I've used these 3M velcro backed paint remover pads to strip every inch of paint from my car if you want to give it a try. It might cost you 20 bucks the first time but you're buying an arbor and a disc together. Then each single disc costs around 10 bucks. You can see pictures of it in the thread below

Thank you Bob! I will check those out.

And Frank and others can throw your favorite tool tips in the ring also. I will use your guy's tips when I get to that point with my Grabber.
