For those that sent in information for the Registry, thanks but..... the file got corrupted so I'm starting over. I'm saving it on 2 discs this time as well as printing out a hard copy on photo paper. I would like to add your Sprint to the registry. Please send me the following information as best as you know of your car: Name (yours) Address (yours) Engine (original) trans (original) rear (original) Factory options Dealer installed options History Current condition I also need a close up picture of of the door data plate since this is the only proof of it being a factory Sprint. I also would like at least 1 picture of your car, more if you have them. I will print 2 copies of the registry page that your car is on. It will be printed on photo paper. One will go in the registry and the other I will mail to you. Thanks a bunch, Dennis
How many registries are there? Craig has the 70 Grabber, Set the Comet GT and you have the sprint. anyone else?
Hey Dennis, I don't know if you saw my post in the parts for sale section but I located a Sprint in a junkyard up here: http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=17864&page=1&pp=20
I only had about 4 entries and since I couldnt get the file to work, I deleted it. Hey Mike, I saw that, If you could get me as much of the information I need as you can, I would appreciate it. For Junkyard cars, The name and address of the junkyard is needed. Thanks. There are currently 5 Registries going. The 3 you mentioned, plus Dan Starnes is doing the Stallions and Willie Orpurt is doing 75 Grabbers.
Here is what a page in the registry will look like, It is printed on glossy photo paper and can easily be framed. Common all you Sprint guys, send me your info.
I used to own a Sprint. 302 C4 Bench seats A/C 3.00 gears If I can find the VIN, is that something you would want for your registry? It was in sad shape when I sold it. Could you use the VIN to determine what ever happened to it? The guy that bought it, trailered it away. I never really knew if it was for parts or restore. Dave Edit: Gotta excuse the shape of the car and hood scoop, it was 89 and I was 19... Young and dumb, not to mention that nobody was the slightest bit concerned with the collectability of a Sprint back then.
In order for me to prove it was a Sprint I would have to have either a picture of the door data plate or send the VIN # to Marti and pay $40 or so for a report. I don't think I want to start paying $40 for each entry that I'm not sure of. Plus one of the purposes of a Registry is to document the whereabouts of these cars. Thanks anyway. If you happen to see it please keep me in mind though.
Looking at your pictures got me to thinking of making a section for cars just like these. Ones that have pictures but nothing else. Maybe a "where are they now" section.
That's what I was thinking of... You could show that it existed and list it as 'MIA' I sold this one in Memphis around 1992. An older man trailered it away for 200 bux. It was for sure a Sprint... no one at that time would have cloned one, especially in that condition. I bought it in Pensacola FL for 600 bux. I have a pic of the data plate somewhere. The buyer wanted it before he came with his trailer. It was fuzzy old school film and I don't think you can read the plate in the pic. Dave BTW: I changed the grille...
