I found that 302 69/70 Mustangs had the same cooling system configuration as a 302 Maverick .. 20 inch radiator with Left Side water pump intake.

The upper Motorcraft Radiator hose Part # is the same ... The lower is different.

I picked up a set of 69/70 Mustang hoses last night at Mustangs Unlimited. The top is for sure the same ... it will fit perfectly. The lower will actually fit as well from what I can tell by placing an NOS Motorcraft Maverick hose side-by-side with Repop Mustangs hose. The Maverick hose as a large S curve which appears to have been necessary to clear pulleys and belts for either P/S or A/C equipped Mavericks ... but the hose ends line up in the same place.

Last night I sanded off the first 4 charactors of the part number which indicates a Mustang part. Before removing them I measured the height and width of the 4 characters ... exactly 1/4 inch high by 5/8 wide. I duplicated the lettering in Photoshop to create a 1971 Maverick part number for my car ... D1DZ. I ordered a $7 rubber stamp with the D1DZ and once i have it will stamp the Maverick part # indicator on the hose.

I should have the stamp next week and will follow-up on the final product. Here is a picture of the hoses ready to stamp and the graphic I supplied the rubber stamp manufacturer ...

Do you have a picture of both lower rad hoses side by side? I've been hunting down a lower, and was thinking the Mustang one would be close.

Yeah, whenever I needed radiator hoses I got them from a Mustang supply house for a '70 Mustang.

Here is the Maverick lower hose vs. the Mustang lower. Like I indicated above ... there is a large curve in the Maverick hose I am guessing for accessory clearance. The yellow line shows that the hoses do line up the same as far as the water pump inlet and radiator outlet ...

    Thanks!!
I have the Motorcraft numbers, KM 615 (upper) and KM 372 (lower) but didn't have anything to compare them to, I was thinking I might have to get them from Gates, but if they'll work, I'll go with the Mustang hoses.

KM 615 upper is same as Mustang and almost all other V8 Fords ... KM 372 is used on no other car except a V8 Maverick .. Any Auto parts store can get a KM 372 ... I currently have on installed ... but obviously no Autolite markings ... FYI ... Motorcraft no longer manufacturs a KM 372 ... their catalog says to use Flex Hose ...

Give me a week ... after I restamp the part number I'll be installing them and will have pictures ....

Unless you trying to accomplish what I am ... I would just go get them at your local autoparts store ... they will be cheaper ...

But if the hoses are the same as the Mustang, wouldnt Ford have left the Mustang number on there?

I am thinking that is possible. However Ford also lists a KM615 for a 68 Mustang but the repop upper hose I bought has a C9ZZ part number on it which apparantly is correct for 69/70 Mustangs.

The problem I have is that all the documentation and part numbers guides I have only list a D2PZ part# as a replacement for 68-70 Mustangs and all 302 Mavericks. I am guessing the D2PZ part was created when everything changed to Motorcraft. So I really have no idea if there was ever a D1DZ upper hose for a 302 Maverick .... but it will look good ... besides there was definitely a D1DZ lower 302 hose so they will match ... :D

I have the original hoses on my '71 302 Maverick (bought it new) and the part number stamped n the top hose is D1DE88274-AA. Remember the D1DZ...is the Ford Parts Book number not the actual engineering number on the parts. I can't see the number on the bottom hose, I need to get a new jack and then I can get under there and see what it is. Dan.... I would have mentioned this earlier but it didn't even occur to me until I looked at it just now. My car has not been restored and it has almost all it's original parts under the hood so if you are looking for some tips on "Originality" you are welcome to come by and take a look, I only live about 20 minutes from you.....
