JCW once again cancelled my order for leaf springs. I called them to reinstate the order as I have done many times in the past (b/c they're on backorder), but this time they refused to do so. Why? They said that the supplier wouldn't have any more available for greater than 60 days. Well, that's odd because that's always been the case, until they suddenly show up on the doorstep.

I then called John R. Spring, who supplies JCW with these springs. They told me they are discontinuing the 4 leaf Maverick/Comet spring (part no 42-717). Looks like the good ole JCW leaf springs are no longer an option for us. :(

Damn, and I was wanting to get a set. Wonder if we could get enough orders together in a group buy to get them to do one last run?

    Hello Randy.

Sorry to hear about the spring order being cancelled. There is a company in Detroit called Eaton Detroit Spring, and on their website, it states the following:

"We are the only spring manufacturer to have been licensed by both Ford Motor Company and General Motors to produce Authentic Factory Replacement Springs and Parts."

I'll PM you the website for them.

The problem is that JRS doesn't actually make these springs, but orders them (then JCW orders from JRS). She told me they will no longer order them. Where they are actually made, I don't know.

Dale and Jeff, thanks for the Eaton Spring recommendation. :tiphat: I just found some on Ebay for $55 each. I ordered them. Hopefully they're good quality. We'll see.

Just did the same sleuthing after seeing this thread. JCW didn't tell me anything so I also called John R. Using the same part number the woman I spoke to also said there was no delivery date from their supplier and if they'd ever get any more. I called JCW back and canceled my order and they gave me $20. I'd rather have the springs

Just called Laurel Mountain and they use John R Springs too...dammit!!!

HOLY $H!T Eaton wants $479 for the pair plus shackles! I'll try ESPO and if not I may look at the Maverick Connectio on ebay. Has anyone bought springs from them?

I thought of Laurel Mountain this morning after I got off the phone with JRS. I remember someone mentioning they were backordered. I was afraid they used JRS too.

I'm sure Eaton makes excellent springs, but I can't spend $479 on springs when I can buy them for $55 each. At 479, I'd have to use a local shop to add a leaf and get them re-arched.

I don't know where Chuck gets his springs. Hopefully not JRS!

I figured those were the ones. I couldn't find any there when I first ordered from JCW, but I guess it worked out for the better.

I see that those $55 are sold individually. I hope you guys saw that too. Still $110 for a pair is a good price. I hope they discount the shipping on a pair. Let us know how they fit. I talked to a local spring shop and they quoted me $52 each. I will have to go that route. Shipping springs is a killer on the old thin wallet.

I knew that and ordered two. A local spring shop for $52 each? Is this for re-arching? Adding a leaf?
