A long story but a very successful one and a long time coming.

I have been after a set of those chrome European Maverick emblems for some time now and have had very little success so far. I tried to link to any Euro Ford web sites but they always wanted me to register first. The problem was that our USA address wouldn’t fit into the required blocks representing a Euro address so no luck there. The phone numbers made no immediate sense to me as I have never made a Trans-Atlantic phone call either. What happened next really got the ball rolling so to speak. I contacted our German friend Thomas (Tody) and he got what we thought was a good part number from a friend of his who runs a Ford Dealership over seas. I took this number to my local Ford dealer, here in Pennsylvania. Luckily I got a very experienced Ford parts man that took this up as a challenge. He ran this number and it came back as only an engineering number. I thought I struck out again but he then tells me to get a pen. He gave me the actual part number that this engineering number crossed over to. He said that this was a strange looking part number, to him, and I asked him what vehicle the part number went to? He said “Escape”. Well, I told him that this might be a good thing since the Maverick over seas was the Escape. He told me he would take a shot at ordering one and the worst it could be was I would have to pay a 15% re-stocking fee. I was told that the price would be somewhere around 30.00 an emblem so, this past Monday, I told him to order me one. I get a phone call on Wednesday morning telling me that my emblem came in and it read “MAVERICK”. I couldn’t get down there fast enough right after work. My experienced parts man wasn’t in work that day but the other parts man on duty found my part and there it was in all of it’s chrome glory “MAVERICK”. I felt like Ralphie on Christmas morning opening up his Red Rider BB Gun. Of course, I had to tell him the story too as he was asking me what the hell this emblem went to? He told me that with the, not so US appearing part number, he was surprised that no “red flags” flew at Ford. Here was a PA Ford dealer selling Euro Ford parts. He also said that this emblem had to come directly from Detroit as no other US Ford dealer would ever stock such an item. I quickly ordered the rest of the ones that I needed and hoped that they would get them in also. Well, this morning, my original parts man, called me with the good news and I picked up the second order for my 3 more emblems with no problem what-so-ever. I asked him if these emblems could be ordered from any US Ford dealer with this same part number? He said that “as long as the part number stays open” there should be no problem. One thing to remember is that, even though I was told about the 15% re-stocking fee, no dealer can actually take this part back as it is a part not stocked in any US dealer. I would guess that, if you order the emblems, you must take the emblems . I don’t know anyone that wouldn’t but just mentioning it.

So I am listing this part number for anyone interested in these emblems. I wonder what Ford will think when a bunch of these Euro Maverick emblems get ordered, from all across North America, first thing on Monday morning. :biglaugh:

    “NAMEPLATE”----------part number YL8Z-7842528-DB

My special thanks to Thomas from Germany- - -a big thumbs up :thumbs2:

    Good luck everyone,

    Bob

Those are so cool looking Bob! Do they have the sticky tape on the back? About how long is the complete set of letters?

    Hey Jack,

    9 inches overall

They are mounted on a backing piece in their exact placement position. It looks like you peel off each die cut backing piece from the rear of each letter exposing a sticky backing on the letter. It then appears you would apply the entire emblem and then pull the blue backing piece over all of the letters.

I went and bought some parts from a guy in Hamburg, Pa. today. I drove secondary roads for 54 miles one way and it was a great day and a nice ride. I just didn't feel like driving the Turnpike and Route 22/78. Bought a nice flat hood plus small bumper front and rear valances. This guy has a ton of parts. Just about anything you could imagine. I think I counted 5 complete sets of Bobcat tail lights.

Tomorrow is supposed to be nicer so I may get something done. :D

    Glad I could help :bouncy:

If any of the other dealerships don't want to order a part that fits a European Maverick, PM me and I will see what I can do.

Let me know how you make out getting your emblems from different dealers.

Once I got the number straightened out and found a really good Ford parts man, the rest just seemed too easy. :yup:
