Hey guys , I just turned 16 last week and my dad gave me his maverick that he had sitting around. The car has been sitting for 8 years in the grass, The driver side floor pan needs replaced and the passengers side needs patched. Now for the goodies on this, It has 429 boss engine, Running on 13:1 compression pistons, Got a torker 460 edelbrock manifold. The motor has only something like 5000km's on new rebuild, transmission was also rebuild. The only thing wrong with the motor my dad said is it needs a new frost plug on the drivers side. I also need a new front driver side quater panel and the drivers door as someone ran into it. Were gonna get a set of crager rims for it. Anyways here is some pictures.

Looks like the start of a decent project! But...are you sure that is a 429 Boss? Good luck with it!

You've got a good headstart. Just take your time and do things right. You'll be glad you did in the long run. That Maverick with a 429 "non" boss set up the way that you say it is will be pretty darn powerful. Don't let it wind up around a tree somewhere. Good luck with your project, and with the gas money.:thumbs2:

Looks like the nice start of a project. It has the 429 CJ/SCJ valvecovers so could be either one of those. Definitely not a Boss, but cool just the same. Can't wait to see the progress. - Matt

It's a 428, if it were a 429 the motor would be work more than 5 Mavericks. 428's and 460's were almost exactly the same motor. and the 427 Ford was the Cammer, or SOHC Motor.

    :Welcome: from Northeast Pennsylvania

You have quite a project car to play with. You can see from my images, I like big engines in little cars. :dancing:

One thing for sure is that you will gain a whole lot more knowledge from this project, as you go forward, than if you had a stock Maverick.

Also, learn from what you read on this forum and take it all in as part of the overall learning experience and you will do just fine. There is about a zillion years of accumulated knowledge floating around this forum.:thumbs2:

Sorry but the heads speak volumns. This motor is definately an M series whiich makes it 429/460 family. 428's, belong to the FE Family along with 352, 390, 410, 427 etc. FE motors the valve covers sat on both the head and the manifold where the M series were like the small blocks, it sat on the head only. The 427 came in several versions with the Cammer being the least produced. If I had to guess I would say logically it is a 29 because they were the favorite choice over the 60's until the 514 Strokers made their debut.

Welcome to the board from Colorado.:tiphat: Looks like a good start to what could be a real nice piece when done. Pay attention to the folks on here, Volumns of experience and don't be shy, ask questions. Be fore warned though, they will want pics. Good luck:Handshake
