Thanks for all the help guys! I'm looking into all of these posts.
my concern about going 4bbl was mpg as this will be my daily driver.
I've heard great things about both the holley and the autolites (from what I read the autolite is supposed to be the most realiable). They are so expensive new tho.
Tony - I appreciate the link. I'm gonna check that out here in a second. It is good to know when someone has used a seller on ebay before. I'd hate to pay extra for a rebuilt carb only to find out that the seller didn't rebuild it correctly.
RMiller - If it turns out to be an autolite 2bbl pm me the specs and I very well might be interested.
    - A parts dealer in Raleigh emailed me yesterday that he "might" be able to find one from a friend sort of thing today. Hopefully that works out. I'm gonna stop by the advanced store today too and see if the guy has an idea of exactly what "chevy carbs" he has laying around.
    Appreciate all the help.

with you running a straight six about the only option you have is to run a 2V carb instead of a 4V. Unless you can find something like a 300 cfm carb, but you will have to get a 2V to 4V adapter for the log manifold. I can only find the standard pattern to the log manifold adapter and that alone is $45 bucks so I can only imagine how much it would be to have a 4V carb adapter made unless you have access to a machine shop.

But cost wise and motor wise it would be best for you to find a 200-300 cfm 2V carb either in the standard autolite 2100 or the holley 2V. Or else find one in the Weber replacement style like I posted earlier in the post.
This is part of the reason why it is so expensive to build the sixes, they have an integrated log style intake manifold that you usually cant get rid of.

yea, the intake manifold is killer. It's all one piece right? not a bolt on.
    Is a 2V carb the same as a 2bbl?
This is the tech article I was gonna try to follow..

Yes a 2V carb is the same as a 2bbl carb the V stands for venturi so when you see the 2V or the 4V on top of the ford air cleaners it stands for 2 or 4 Venturi carburetor respecively.

And yeah thats a good deal on the carb and adaptor you should shoot for the ones that he has listed in his tech article. Be aware that you are possibly going to have to fabricate linkage but otherwise it should work just fine.

That pic is of an early Carter YF.

    This is an RBS.

I run a Rochester BC carb on my 200 I6. Came off a '63 Chevy BelAir. It runs well.

If you are going to put a two barrel on the log manifold the best way to do it is to have the manifold milled flat for an adapter (2bbl to 2bll) and have the hole in the manifold milled with a 2bbl opening.

that looks awesome. and I can definitely see the benifit of doing it that way. There is a metal shop next door to my house in the mountains. I'll have them quote a price on doing that for me. Is this how people do it when they do the 3 1bbl carb setup as well? (I know I just jumped ship on the topic alil)
