I wanted to install a consolette in my automatic floor shift car but could not fit it in. Al little extra insulation under the carpet probably did not help. I put my Steward Warner Mini panel under the dash in its place. The other day, a consolette came up on eBay. I bid on it for the hell of it. Surprisingly, no one else bid. Supposedly, it came out of a Comet. I don't know if it was a floor shift car. It is different than my other one. The base piece is about half an inch shorter and has the number D1DB-62015A06-AA in the bottom center. The top looks the same. It is factory and has not been cut down I noticed the only floor shift consolette car i could find appears to have the shorter version: http://mmb.maverick.to/threads/i-we...-72-grabber-for-a-friend.104421/#post-1060897 I wonder if they were made for the floor shift cars since the tunnel plate for the floor shifter makes the tunnel wider. Not sure if it will fit in my car since my gauges are now in the way. Curious if anyone else has noticed this and knows why there are different consolettes out there. Micah
The difference is in the year it came from 69 1/2 -70 tunnel was smaller. If you do a search on it we have had the discussion before but we never approached the subject of differences in an auto or manual floor shift car
In researching the consolettes again the one you have with the clock would be for a 71 and later car, I have one identical to the one you have that has the block out plate. I need the one like yours that has the clock for my 76
Sorry, I have another Maverick that I may restore one of these days. I will see which one fits. Also, I might give it another try to install the smaller one in the restored Maverick. It is a pain not having a place to put things. Micah
