Guys....y'all can park in the pit area. They may put you out in the boonies but you will be on the pit side. If there are enough cars coming then you might be able to snag a reserved area as part of a "club" deal. If you want to do that then contact Crystal at the FFW office. 225-664-0996. Tell her I sent you. You might want to wait until next week though. This week is going to be hectic enough with the Commerce race.

I might try to make it as well. Sounds like fun.

    That's a great idea ShadowMaster! :thumbs2:

I've dealt with Bill Alexander of Fun Fords several times for mini-meets in the past, but never even thought about the pits as an alternative. (The FFW people are pretty accommodating). I was thinking last time I went to Baytown, I was charged for having my car in the pits (as a matter of convenience).

Either way, if we could get a head count, maybe we could get a group rate. Maybe I'll talk to Crystal next week.

Lets meet in the regular parking lot at 9 AM on Saturday.

If we decide to go into the pit side, we can all go together. It will cost another $10 to go to the pit side, but we might be able to keep an eye on our cars better. [$25 vs $35]

    How's that?

(I want to make sure everyone knows this is a very informal thing. No maverick is required. Bring your daily driver, even. It will be nice to just meet and talk Mavericks, if nothing else).

    Who all is going?

Doug, you seem to have some leadership ability...why don't you talk to Crystal and set up a meeting area. (Just so she doesn't get 4 phone calls and set up 4 different "reserved" areas.) I would much rather pay $10 extra and not have to park my car out in the boonies...

We will be there at least for half the day. Still bringing Anna's mustang, not the mav (still NO SEATS!!!).

Any chance I could buy some seats that day? I really need to get this thing driveable. Have new exhaust setup, slicks, 1.7 Crane roller rockers, carpet, Caltracs, and it runs GREAT, I just cannot drive it without sitting on a fishing tacklebox and without seatbelts...and that won't last too long at the track or on the highway:D

The only reason I haven't contacted and made a commitment to the FFW is that I have no idea how many people are coming. Every time I have made a commitment, hardly anyone shows up! The best turn outs have been get-togethers that just fell into place.

Everyone talked about coming, but I have had no response when asking for a head count. (Except for the two or three of you all).

I AM going and will meet everyone there next Saturday morning at 9 AM. Just give me a call on my cell phone: (512) 217-1115. :drive:

Scott, I'm all gain to park in the pit area. Sounds great! (Even if its only you and Anna and I). Unfortunately many will not want to pay the price differential, I don't think. We'll see.

I can't commit to anything just yet.

I 'should' have the '74 in the car show and the '70 on the track. I'll be pitting with the racing crew I normally pit with and am supposed to be 10 different places at the same time.

I'll meet up with you guys when and where I can.

I just haven't had time to get the Comet ready. I'm working on two cars at once and neither is going particularly great. We might just go in my son's 32 Roadster to FFW. I'll stay in touch. Phil

I probably won't have my mav ready either, but the wife drives an 05 mustang convert, so we may just bring that...I would come in my Dodge truck if I had to.

Hope to see you guys there...

I had a four-wheel alignment done on the red one yesterday.
I had widened the camber adjustment slots to allow for more negative camber settings. The camber was adjusted to -2.5* with the front end unloaded (simulating WFO going down the track). That, along with correcting another shop's screw-up on aligning the rear should help it go a lot straighter next time out.

'Got new plugs, wires, and rotor. Will put them on today.

Will get the Diablosport chip dyno tuned (today if possible) to the new cam.

I need to buy and install bigger and higher grade U-bolts for the rear.

    "Thrashing" as usual.

The '74 just needs a wash for the show.

What size u-bolts you using...I swapped to HELP bolts a few years back on the side that has the drop block to level it out. Then when i put the caltracs on last week, I finally put the other set of larger bolts on the other side. These are quite a bit bigger than the stock ones (had to drill the holes out on the stock perches, but they fit fine with the caltracs.

They also have really deep double-length nuts.

    1/2" x 2-7/8" wide x 7" Long (this is for a 9" rear w/1" drop).

I will be widening the 7/16" wide slots in the Cal-Tracs to accommodate the larger bolts (after I finish my Egg McMuffin).

    MMMMMMM, egg McMUFFIN!!!:D

I just got my driver seat installed....just might make it to the ffw with the maverick.

Of course, the wife is already complaining about how hot it is, so we will still probably bring her air conditioned Mustang...

Whew! That one Egg McMuffin was hardly enough.

 <-- LOUD whistle) LUNCH BREAK!

The rear is out of the car, the 1" drop blocks have been modified to reduce pinion angle by 4* (it was WAY off). 'Going back at it after lunch.

'Glad to hear you're getting the Maverick closer.

Definitely bring the Mustang (too). :yup:
