Part # for KYB --- Excel-G 343136 rear, 343146 front. I have on my car and work great for me. I do think I had to use upper hardware bolt on pass side rear from existing shock for some reason, or would have to made some kind of mod. Don't recall exactly why "been abt 5 yrs" -- took easy way out.

DSC_5047.JPG I picked mine up as NOS from eBay. Without crawling under the car, I don't know the numbers. Even then, I repainted them to match the car and might not see any stamped numbers.

When I look at Rock Auto, they list KYB KG4517 for the Maverick. It also fits the 64-70 Mustang. If you look up a 70 Mustang at Koni, it comes up with 8250-1031.

    Frank:
I believe the 64-70 Mustang rear Koni's will not work, has threaded studs at each end, our Mav/Comet only use the threaded stud on bottom and eyelet for top mount. I have the Koni Special 'D' adjustable p/n: 80-2235 it has 5 adjustment settings from soft to firm, where you literally need 2 people to extend/compress, great for damping super high rate rear leaf springs (mine are 5 1/2 leafs). Unfortunately, these are long out of production, nice thing Koni's are rebuildable if they where ever to fail.........

    73' maverick...
anyone know the correct orientation of the top rear shock mounts?
I had mine off when I cleaned and painted the undercarriage and don't know if at that time I replaced them correctly.

    David,
I 'm certain the Konis I installed were for a '70. I just had to do some maneuvering to get them into the upper mount but otherwise they worked fine.

I had QA1 nine way adjustable on my car but you have to put a piece on the bottom to change the orientation of bottom shock mount from a post to a bolt that goes through it like the top mount.

I got the shocks back on. really only one way the top mount will work on each side. the mounts are the same L/R . driver side, mounting tab to front of car...the pass. side to rear of car.
