My '73 Comet GT Restoration Thread

I am not to the interior stage of my project, yet. Probably blue with black accents.

 

I haven't worked on the car in over 3 months. How depressing!

Today I cleaned up the shop a little bit, put some parts away, put my tools away. Decided to do some Spring Cleaning and put some parts up for sale that I will not be needing. I've decided to go with a MII conversion for my Comet. Everyone that has done it has nothing but great things to say about it. In the long run, I actually think it may be cheaper than rebuilding my front suspension with MOOG parts, getting a Borgeson power steering gear, and having to build an SHP 347 to meet my goals. With a MII kit, I can get power steering, build a fun F4TE 351W at half the cost of the SHP and have zero spark plug and header issues.

My Spring class ends in 3 weeks, and I have no classes this Summer, woohoo! Hopefully I can get back into Comet mode by mid-May. I have a few more patches to do on the floors and trunk. Then I can start cutting out the shock towers for the MII kit.

 

Got to spend some time on the Comet today! I cut and trimmed 3 more patch panels. Got the trunk and the drivers extension welded in. I need to POR15 under the passenger rear torque box before welding in the third patch panel. Then it is time to do some more grinding. Only one more panel to do in the drivers area where the Mustang floor pan came up short next to the tunnel. Then I am DONE with truck and floor patch panels. Forever.

Any updates on the build?

I am putting a Comet scoop on my Maverick hood. Would you be kind enough to measure the scoop placement for me?

 

No updates... Baby, work and school is all I seem to be doing these days.

I think there is a thread on the forum with hood scoop placement measurements. My hood is in the rafters, so I would need to get it down to measure it. Lemme see if I can find the measurements thread...

That's a nice car to start a project with. Love the colors to. Very nice shop. Have fun with the build. I am finally starting mine this week.I put it off way to long.
