Well, the trailer arrived tonight!

Still waiting on one buddy to come through with the bulldog hitch lock and another to show up with the straps that come with the trailer.

The tires are rotated and balanced on the Rango.

I even had time to paint my 'primer gray' hood "Krylon Ultra-Flat Black" this evening! Ha!

I am certainly no competition for 'Rattle-Can-Dan'. :biglaugh:

Just got the new 5.0 running for the first time tonight. I'll sneak it out for a test drive tomorrow night (the state safety inspection ran out in April). Have an appointment to get it inspected Saturday morning. If everything goes well I might just make it.

I FINALLY loaded the Maverick on the trailer tonight - after about 100 things on the To-Do list just suddenly appearing  !!

It's ready to go to the Dyno tomorrow. Burn the chip, then back on the trailer for Sunday's voyage (if I don't have to work on Sunday that is - - but that's another story).

I start getting ready tomorrow. Gotta move vehicles around, get truck ready, clean out trailer. Wash bike, truck, trailer. Car is fairly clean, especially for not being washed since last Roundup lol. Barry, keep us posted on your progress, hope all goes well at the inspection.

Actually drove the car tonight. It's running a little rough, have to play around with the idle mixture some more. Oil pressure and temp are good. (y)

Don't worry about getting it inspected, Barry.

We'll inspect it for you! ;) Just tell the police that the guys in Owensboro will do it! (y)

Yeah, that'll carry a lot of weight! LOL. The only thing they found was a rear brake drum worn out of tolerance. No parts stores in my town had them in stock. Quickest delivery would have been Monday afternoon. I got a pair of new drums at CJ Ponyparts, a Mustang house that's about a 2 hour round trip from my place. The guy at the inspection station said I could put them on and he will verify and put a sticker on Monday. I was hoping to drive the car over the weekend and to work Monday before leaving Tuesday. Guess I'll just have to sneak it out some more after dark to try and make sure we're good to go.

Well, I was told by the guys at Strictly Performance (some of you Houston guys
know who I'm talking about) to "bring the Maverick on down", and that they could
    tune my car.

I get there (after 30 miles of dodging and weaving through traffic with the Maverick
on the trailer for the first time) only to hear "You'll have to bring it back on
Monday!" That kinda sux when I'm leaving town tomorrow - and after
all had agreed on the time to begin with.

I called up a buddy who gave me a "guesstimated" tune on the chip. It's
not anywhere near what a dyno tune would give me but at least it's something.

It FLOODED on the way home. Driving a trailer in the rain, on a narrow
two-lane road/ is NOT a load of fun. 'Made it home safely though.

I still have a few more things to do, but it looks like we're still on for leaving
    out tomorrow morning!

Geez...those guys get serious when they do inspections, don't they? In Mississippi, they check all lights and signals, horn, make sure your tires aren't 100% bald (90% is okay:cool: ), windshield not cracked on drivers side, and your window tint is not too dark. You get a sticker. And that's if they decide to take the time to check all of that stuff.

Yeah, they measure the drums with calipers and use micrometers on the rotors, pads and shoes. My 10" drum measured 10.070", max allowed is 10.060". Tires have to have 1/16" above the wear bars, no more than 2 repairs to a tire. Some places even measure the aiming of the headlights with a machine. Can't tell you how many times they tacked $20 on to my bill because my headlights needed "adjusted". Yeah, right, every year? Most places charge $20 - $25 for the inspection and they charge $35 for emissions check. The maverick is exempt from emissions checks (over 25 years old) but my Tbird has to get checked. All they do on pre-OBD IV cars is check that the gas cap seals correctly. And they charge me $35 for that!
