I've bought several boxes ... They skimped on the yellow paint in this box ... The previous box I bought were bright yellow like the originals ...
So, I went and bought the ones Dan showed, worked alot better than the ones I had bought earlier that were suppose to be the same, they seemed to pull the trim in too far, the 10625's are perfect!! Thanks again Dan!!!
No problem ... Putting that trim on a newly painted car sucks (pain in the azz and worry worry about chipping and scratchin) ... but having the correct clips helps ...
I got mine from the ebay seller,,, showed the yellow ones in auction. Got the black ones in the mail. Wont buy from again. From my experience, the yellow ones work the best for the windshield. I love how people refer to back glass stuff as the rear windshield,, it is only the windshield when backing up lol. Dan
Since then, I found the the trim seemed loose in spots, and it was because those clips just didn't hold as well as the factory ones. They are thinner than the factory ones. When I stripped my brown car down, I found that there were different clips in the corners, compared to the rest, which were all yellow. I bought some locally, some at Carlyle, some NOS off Ebay, and some from a local guy that had a box.
I have found different ones (smaller and brown in color) along the bottom of the windshield sometimes. The yellow factory ones are the best.
would these be the good/bad clips? http://www.ebay.com/itm/50-Reveal-M...pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr
Bad ones. They will work but are harder to use. Look for the rounded top ones like the factory had. They are much studier and the curved edge makes snapping down the trim easier. Dave posted a picture of them all side by side in the other windshield thread.
I got mine from AK like 4 years ago. I hope they work What if I grind off the corners? Will that be a waste of time?
I wouldn't bother trying to reshape them. They will work, otherwise why would they sell them? It is just if I had a chance to buy these or look for the real Ford ones, I would hold out for the real Ford ones as they are easier to work with and seem stronger. here is that picture Dave posted - the ones to look for are the 2 yellow factory clips on the right
If I did it again I would chip the paint off the pins before installing the trim. In retrospect, I think the paint made it more difficult to get the clips on the pins.
