I ordered a pitman arm for 1971 Maverick manual steering a while back and got new center link in today and pitman arm is wrong. and it is TRW part # 803-18817. The pitman arm has a joint on one end where as the original does not. Any ideas on what it fits. More parts more delays, ugh. Thanks for any help.
Do not know how to post pictures. I thought maybe it was for a later Maverick maybe power steering. I just found a picture that looks exact. It fits a 1975 -1973 Maverick I think they we power steering only. Now what to do with it. And find the right one. Thanks Dave B. for looking.
Ok baddad 457, the center link has a joint on one end and open on the other end and the two holes for the tie rods. I ordered the center link from Laurel mountain mustang part # DS 770. I guess if I had the original part it would help, You get what you get. Thank you Craig and baddad 457. I thought my pitman arm was wrong now I don't know.
The manual pitman arm has a ball joint on the center link end as I recall, It will not mate to a power center link.
1970-1974 Center Links (post/nut located on the pitman arm end) 1975-1977 Center Links (hole located on the pitman arm end)
So it appears that I have the right center link for the '71. But because the post and nut is on my pitman arm it does not fit my '71 manual steering. If so I need a pitman arm and it will have two holes and no post. Thank you thank you!
I guess I am really confused.my center link and my pitman arm is match pair? My center link has a straight hole( and stud on the other end)And the stud on the pitman are is cone shape?
I hope I added this picture right. This is what I believe mine should look like. Which says my pitman arm is wrong. The one I need has two holes. Thanks Jeff (1bad6t) for great web sight .
