I searched thru some threads, and only found one that asked this question, with only 2 answers.. I want to change the seats out in my Maverick. I have a 71, Maverick, with bench seats front and back. I want bucket seats up front, and the matching in the back. I have been told that there isn't a cat in the car, because of the year. But there is a hump under the front bench seat, in the middle.. I don't know a thing about mechanics, and my husband only worked with starters and alternators. And I really don't understand if it will make a difference with the seats. Okay. I understand that if I find bucket seats for the Mav, I will need to get the tracks under them as well. We will have to drill new holes for the tracks. Most seats would work. My main problem is: What type of back seats will fit in this Maverick. I want to look thru a local junk yard to find something we can reupholster. I just don't know what type of car to look for. thanks in advance for your suggestions. Becky
i have heard that the Mitsubishi eclipse back seat will fit in the back .....there will be a slight space. but it fits fine from what i heard... and actualyl there are probably 20 threads in this forum relating to seat conversions anyhting will fit in the mav, within reason and with the right tools. torch and welder...and your imagination good luck
ok this is an old thread and I have not researched to see the other threads, Rear seats from Mustangs 65-68 sould work as well as the courags 67-68 direct fit. for the back upper part. for the lower part of the rear seat the 65-66 mustang is most likely your best bet I do not remember the lower for the 67-68 it may work, I know that mavericks after 73 (I think) have bump outs due to the location of the rear seat belts, (it may be 72 though) get what ever you want for the front, adjust brackets and tracks and have your rear seat re-done, it is always the best way to go.. I personally prefer the procar ralley seats but not eveyone will throw that kind of money at a pair of seats. (and then pay more to have then upholstered) I get it.
I just got some racing bucket seats off eBay and made my own tracks for them. As for the back seat. I just striped it down and sewn on a seat cover to match the seats. Excuse the mess. Still in the process of redoing the interior
How Did You Do The seat Tracks have the same seats and losing my mind on how to mount them Please let me know thanks
I got a seat bracket for a Honda I think. Cut the center bars off it so it would mount to my seat. Put it where I wanted it and drilled some holes where the bolts went. And under the car I had 1/2 steel plates for bolt support so I wouldn't rip em through the floor
What I did was just set em in there and test sit in it. Until I found a place I liked then started drilling. 4 bolts per seat
But I highly recommend the steel plates underneath the car. Or some big washers to distribute the tension
