Hey guys I know plenty of you have done the Lincoln versailles 9 inch swap I found one and am going to buy it this weeknd I was wondering if the shock mounting brackets on the 9 inch are the same as the 8 inch. I know the leave spring perches are the same but I want to make sure the shocks will be the same as well. In addition I was wondering if I need a new proportioning valve too. I have front discs in my car already but I wasent sure. Any help would be great.
The perches are different but all you have to do is elongate the holes so you can get the larger u-bolts through (9" has a larger diameter axle tube)
Are you going to use the Lincoln discs brakes? Parking brake brackets are hard to find if you're looking, I found new brackets for my Versailles rear at http://www.weedetrstreetrod.com/ For 45.00$ a set.
Awesome thanks a ton guys and that makes sense with the perches and it has brand new disc brakes on it and I don't run parking brake cables in my car. I understand the elongating the holes for the leaf spring perch but what about the shock tubes? Same location as our 8 inch?
hoses for this rearend are obsolete from the big manufacturers, but can be obtained through a seller on ebay who makes them.
Rotors are directional as far as the way the cooling vanes are facing making them lefts and rights - one was always available and the other was not
I appreciate the information. But what about the shock tube location? Does anybody know if it's the same as the 8 inch?
I gather that you will be using the same leaf spring plates from your 8", so the shocks will still attach to the same location........as mentioned in earlier post, you may have to elongate the holes for the 9" u-bolts to pass through.
I have calverts racing suspension so I'm hoping I won't have any issues with going with the new 9 inch
If the Versailles doesn't have staggered shocks (I don't think they do), you'll have to use the Maverick shock mounts from the 8-inch rearend.
Yeah I have the shock mounts from calverts racing that's the suspension im running cause it's a drag car. But im not going to make bigger holes for the 9 inch u bolts its kind of butch. I'm going to buy 9 inch shock mounts from calverts to make it right.
