The engine I bought has a 157 teeth 50 oz. on it. Is this compatible with my 1973 250? Also what water pump do I need. Everyone says late model, but I'm unsure what that means. Also what power steering unit do I need for the new engine?

when i did my V8 swap from my 250 inline 6 i reused the torque converter and flywheel, just buy a water pump for a 73 302 that would be late model, newer model is like whats on 80s and 90s mustang, you will have to buy a new v8 power steering pump as they are different then the inline 6 pump,

"Late model" means for later model engines which with 5.0 is only partially correct... Yes the '73 pump will work as will one for a 5.0 Crown Vic up through 1991(it will be aluminum)... You do not want one for late 5.0 Mustang, T-Bird etc as those are reverse rotation(won't fit anyway as bolt spacing on pump hub is wider than on the std rotation)...

Assuming your engine is newer than '82, the 157T 50 oz flexplate is correct for a case fill C4, which AFAIK was the only version used in Maverick... Bell housing and torque differ for 170/200 but should be same on 250 as is the 302 & 250 radiators...

The million dollar question, what did the engine come out of? Without that tid bit of information, every recommendation for a water pump is nothing but a guess.

Can I use the pulley from a 250 or do I need the v8 for the water pump?

As mentioned in an idiot. So I'm guessing I'll use the existing pump pulley on the engine. I'm just swapping the pump to the drivers side for the radiator. The pulleys are dual. Also all I needed was the drivers side pump (brand new not used) existing pulley from 302 and the v8 power steering. Now I just need a belt to connect the power steering.

Just go down to your local parts store and buy one. Rock auto is an option if you really want to order online.

I don't think you'll be able to run a v-belt setup with what you have. It's all based on the timing cover, I have a friend the tried to mount a standard rotation pump onto a reverse rotation timing cover and it wouldn't hold water. He ended up getting a different cover to match the pump. Take this for what it's worth, which isn't much, my experience is limited to his nightmare and that's the direction he had to go.:beerchug:
