Has anyone installed premium factory luxury seats in their Mav/Comet? I really want to see some pics! I am planning out my interior. I want heated, power, leather bucket seats and a console and floor shifter. I have a split bench seat. My wife's Chrysler 300M has heated leather power adjustable seats. Did any FoMoCo cars have this? I was thinking about Lincoln Mark VII or VIII seats. Do they have heated seats available? My Dad's loaded 87 Turbo coupe does not have heated seats. Is it an option only available with leather? Dad's Turbo coupe has fabric interior. Should I just look for 300M seats in the JY? I have seen 2 in local yards, but wasn't looking for seats at the time. Should I look for/avoid anything specific on this kind of custom swap in a 70 Maverick 2 door? I have installed 2008 PT Cruiser seats in my son's 65 Falcon 4 door in place of a bench seat, Sorry the pic is so dark, it's the only pic I have of the new seats in the old bird. Taken in the evening with my phone. 2009 Pontiac G6 seats in an S10 regular cab in place of a bench seat. Are there unused bucket seat mounting points under my carpet? There were not in my S-10 or in Alan's Falcon. If not, I will use galvanized angle for floor reinforcement where the new holes get drilled and grade 10 stainless hardware like the last 2 swaps. What kind of wiring issues will I run into? will I need relays for any reason, or just run power to the plug on the bottom of the seat?
this is my 71 grabber that I bought from my son and this is pretty much the interior on my black comet I do have the seats done theyre black with burgundy stitching and piping
mine doesn't even look that good yet...lol, at least yours is cleaned out. mine looks like this right now: I'm not sure what color this carpet used to be... brown? tan? it had a tan fabric bench seat. now its shredded orange under the driver floor mat, it's gotta go. It's going to be tan carpet and black seats, dash, and console. Unless I find really nice tan seats...then maybe black carpet, dash, and console.
That looks good. It looks like I'm gonna need a skinny console. I was thinking about a S10 X-cab/Blazer console. I think it's about 8" wide, but that would not fit between those Mustang seats. Any suggestions on a good console donor to look out for next time I'm in the JY? Do Fox body consoles fit our cars very easily? I need an AOD floor shifter anyway, maybe I can find a deal on both together. Maybe I need another donor car....Today I found a Lincoln Navigator with 180K miles and a good motor and a transmission with a bad leak for $600 My justification for getting another parts car: I could use the power leather seats (heated?) in my Maverick, and I can use the 4R70W gear set, and steel drum and O.D.bands along with the AOD I already have to build my custom Frankentransmission. The cheapest 4R70w I have seen was $200 for just a core. worth at least $200 to me One of my sons could use the 4 tires and rims from the Lincoln on his 99 F-150 that needs tires. worth $200 to me. My other son has an 99 Expedition 5.4L Triton V8 that has 275K miles on it. I already noticed some racket coming from the 5.4 when he starts it up in the morning. It would be nice to have a good motor sitting on a pallet waiting for his to throw a rod. 5.4 motors range from $600 and up locally. What's that little bit of insurance worth? The Expedition needs window switches and other little things here and there, but is a pretty nice truck. Or we could give Alan the Lincoln and put his trans in it and take the parts we wanted from the Expedition instead. We could probably get $400-$600 selling the remaining parts from either truck on CL, axles, wheels, bumpers, turn signals, etc., and then take a sawzall to the carcass like we did the 75 Maverick 4 door, and to the scrap yard for $30-$75 worth of scrap.
When I first installed these they really 'hugged' the transmission tunnel so after this show I swapped some of the brackets and moved the seats out just an inch or so. If you make your own brackets you could possibly put a decent console between the seats. Or you could build your own custom console. Bruce
You can use a Granada console or a mustang one. I know the 73 fits decently, got one in a comet parts car. Here's one on eBay, http://m.ebay.com/itm/Ford-Granada-console-fits-Ford-Maverick-/172094277092?nav=SEARCH. I actually just got one of these for my car!
My seats are out of a 1996 Mustang and the center console is out of a 1977 Lincoln Versailles. It's the same as the Granada and Monarch console except the lid is leather and not a hard plastic.
I put these in my '70, leather, 8-way power adjustable drivers seat. Got em for $20 at the local U-Pull-It. From a Chrysler Cirrus.
That's the best way to keep people out of your back seat, "sorry I don't have one". I actually had the seat out because I was painting it, but then I started using the space as storage.
