drum brakes

    does anybody know if you have to press the hub out of the front brake drums on a 71 maverick.
    i have ordered new drums but they didnt come with the hubs

    Yes you do. You need to press them out.

    DOES Anyone know anywhere were you can get the replacement hubs????????????

    I have separated the front hub from the drum by driving the studs out. The front studs have extra long shanks that protrude to the outer edge of the drum then they are staked in four places to lock the hub/drum assembly in place. To get it back together you would probably have to grind down the four stakes in each stud before putting it back together. I'm not sure if you would want to or be able to stake it back in place. I changed to longer aftermarket studs that do not have a long shoulder to stake. My front drums just slide on/off like the rear ones. This was done at the first of '99 and I haven't had any problems with it and I like to be able to check my brakes/drums without removing the bearings.

    Regl404, did you happen to find your hubs?
    i have a 75 maverick and am having a terrible time locating hubs for it.
