From length and angle of rearward tubes, I'll say chances fitting Mav/Comet are zero & none...

I would hate to change plugs on that setup.

Yep it is, but it's also something like 2.5" narrower... You can install a 390 or 428 in a '70 stang, won't begin to fit a Maverick...

I have never found any Mustang headers that fit a Mav/Comet.

they will all fit the engine just not the body (the outlet runs into the firewall).
I took a set of shorties and added a 3"dia collector tube... check the bolt pattern.
install an adapter plate to correct the bolt pattern.
this was on my AFR headed 93' 5.0 (347).

Search "headers for gt40 p" in the search box in the upper right hand corner of the page for some good info.

And then be prepared for sandwiched/doubled up gaskets, shorty spark plugs, and/or more expensive spark plug wires with heavier insulated boots. From everyone installing them into this chassis and just about everything I've read, they're not worth the extra hassle when the swap to GT40's can make life so much simpler without a loss in performance.

Yes, with the GT 40P heads the spark plug is below and to the right of the exhaust port. On the driver's side, the headers run exactly over top the spark plugs. On the passenger side, no problem, because the headers run towards the left, totally away from the spark plugs.

the header flanges worked only needed it on the drivers side with shorty plugs
