I recently had my AC serviced after installing a new compressor and dryer, found out I need to replace my evap. thermostat. Anyone know where I can get one? Will one from a Stang work? I have the switch bypassed temporarily -- but want to get it right. Don't want compressor working all the time!
I had not thought about Ebay! I did see some on CJ Pony Stang site. I plan on removing the one on the car to see what it looks like -- don't want to order the wrong part. I know little about AC systems, but, learning a lot from installing 2 compressors and dryers, refurbshing heater/ac box, installing compressor overide sw and such. Anyway, thanks for the tip. I assume a lot of those switches are similiar in Fords of that era. Do you know if I will need to remove heater box to install the switch and/or sensor in the evaporator?
That's what I was hoping not to do -- once was enough. I will leave it as is for now, since it's working better than it has since I got the car. Drove it today, had big smile on my face. It was not that hot today, but, humidity creeping up. Anyway, I will recieve the most use on highway trips. Once fall season is upon us, I will do whatever is needed to fix the evaporator sensor.
Yea! I brought up some pic's of the box when I had it out for refurbish in 2010. It was/is very helpful in determining whether that box need removal or disassembling -- I see it bolts to the rear of the case near driveshaft hump. Keeping pic's of all the major things I have done comes in handy in a case like this. l am waiting till weather cools down some to replace the switch -- using it non-cyclying mode till then, just glad to have it working. Thanks for the reply -- Micah!
