hi guys quick question I am doing a t5 swap into my maverick and I’m using a foxbody driveshaft. I have already changed out the u joint but my problem is... the flange yoke doesn’t line up. My question is would using the maverick yoke work?
You talking about the rear flange ? I've never measured a T5 but I'm assuming it's overall length must be the same as a C4 and Toploader 4 speed for the length to be correct on the driveshaft.
I have a feeling he's tying to put the four bolt flange to the conventional style yoke on the 8". Do the driveshaft have a flange like this?
with my 8" I used my stock length Maverick 2dr. driveshaft with a...C-4 - AOD - T-5 - and now my 700-R4. just changed the front yoke.
Transmission has zero to do with balance, are balanced in all factory applications BEFORE they are installed on assembly line.
Yes I’m talking about that rear flange that connects driveshaft to differential. The flange on the driveshaft is bigger than that on my 8” rear end. So I was wondering if the answer to this would be to either use the maverick flange or do I have to change the flange on the diff?
Thought that may be the case. It will not bolt up, the Maverick yoke is designed to accept the ujoint not a flange. I have both styles for a 9", I will get pictures later when I get home to show the difference.
Take the rear flange off of the shaft and use the Maverick differential yoke. The u-joint should be the same size.
so i am trying to attach the driveshaft to the top yoke. Are you saying remove the flange from the driveshaft and replace it with the maverick? I was reading that you had to change u joint which i have already purchased?
There seems to be a lot of confusion over what parts we are referring to. 1. Transmission yoke- attached to the front of driveshaft and slides onto splines of trans output shaft. 2. U-joint flange - attached to back of Fox body driveshaft. 3. Differential yoke- slides onto splines of pinion gear and attaches rear of driveshaft to differential. No such thing as a top yoke.
I think he was referring to the top yoke in my picture. Remove this, So your driveshaft looks like this, And they should go together like this, just make sure the caps fit snug with no play or movement. If it has any it will end bad at high speeds, I learned that first hand at 18 years old!
This piece will not work on the Maverick, you need to remove it and use it as a paper weight. Once removed, the round bearing cap that was pressed into the holes will go directly into your yoke on the rear axle. That is where you need to pay careful attention that the u-joint fits solid in the yoke.
