You would have better luck posting this in the "Parts Wanted" forum...
Sorry I don't have a tank for you, but this might help you.
    Good luck and welcome

    Gas tankfor a 1971

Go to www.autokrafters.com and order a tank. I just installed one on my 1971 mercury comet and what a difference it makes.

you can probably go down to the local parts store like nappa or something and just have them order you a new one to. i think the 69-70 mavs have the drop in gas tank thats not reproduced, if its the kind that straps under the car you can find new replacments. there all the same i believe

Correct me if I'm wrong but, aren't 71/72 tanks dif. than 73 up. I know they all strap on but doesn't the big bumpers have something to do with the fill tube. Or am I dreaming again? The older I get I'm having trouble sorting out dreams from reality! Good Luck!

when i swaped the small bumper on to the back of my '76 the tank or tube had nothing to do with it at all.

i think the drop in ones are really hard to find for 69-70's but the other ones can be had alot easier, even brand new

The 1971-1974 tanks have a slight taper to them. The taper is there so it will fit up under the rear valence. For some reason this tank was carried over for 1974.

1975-1977 tanks don't have this taper. This is the tank that is reproduced. It will fit 1971-1973, but will hang down below the rear valence in the back.

now that you mention it it did seem like the tank hung below the valance a little too much, i didnt think nothing of it though. i have a feeling the muffler on small bumper cars was a little diffrent too since you can kinda see it too

When I converted my 77 to small bumpers, the valance touched the tank. I had to put a slight bow in it for clearance. Paint the tank flat black and its not even noticeable.
