See em on e-bay every now and then...$100-200 rough, $300-400 straightened and rechromed.

Actually.....most of the brackets are the same on the front. A Maverick has 4 brackets...a Comet has 6 brackets. 4 of the Comet brackets are the same as all of the Maverick brackets. The 2 extra brackets are short little brackets and you could probably get by without using them at all.

    Rears are all the same.

    Jimmy,
There are some guys I have seen at Swap meets (The Bumper Boys) I am not sure where they are out of but I saw them last weekend at the big meet in Louisville KY. They can rechrome for 275.00. I have a rear bumper with brackets on my parts car I caould part with if it will help you out. Its a Comet so the front won't do you any good.

    The Bumpers, General Info

Anything 74 and later requires frame and fender modification. Not so sure about 73, not a hole lot of experence with those yet. 70-72 are all the same with no mods required, only difference is in the bumpers them selves. 70-72 small bumpers I know require certain brackets, which from what I have seen so far can only be found on other Mavericks and matching comets (Junk Yard Time). Unless someone knows of a company that is putting them out. Autokrafters has bumpers redone and brand new for about $300.00 with $150.00 core charge. There is a place in Cali that I have had mine redone (Empire Collision Parts Inc.), and they have done some beautiful work for me. I had a small front bumper that was all twisted up, straightened and rechromed for $150.00.

The Bumper Boyz (I think they spell it with a "z") are out of California, LA I believe. They are at the Zephyrhills and Daytona swap meets each year.
    Their stuff looks nice, too.

If converting to a earlier bumper, don't later cars also then need sheetmetal pans that go under them too? I have a 72 and it has been a while since I looked at a later Mav.

Would the frame and fender modifications be worth it? If anyone has pictures on this mod it would help. Right now I am just considering it I too have a 76 comet. I have been looking around and I like the small bumpers better then the big ones...

    Thanks,

    Robert
