I am parting out a low mileage '72 4 door Comet. Will the gas line fit a 2 door Comet or Maverick? Are the front door hinges the same? I know that the glass, door panels, and doors are different? What else will NOT exchange between a 4 dr and 2 dr? Thanks.

Jim, the wheel base on the 4 door is longer so you may have to modify the gas line but can probably make it work. The door hinges will work. There is very little from the doors back that will work as far as the body goes. Qtrs, trunk lid, roof is all different.

    Thanks, Ray.

Well, I guess I have some extra parts I will not be using, such as trunk, doors, tinted door glass, nice tan door panels, quarter trims, etc.

What about the back seat? Will it fit in a 2 door? I understand the front buckets will. The car has an excellent tan LDO interior with front buckets.

The door handles look the same, are the other door opening and locking parts the same?

    Back Seat is different

Front buckets will fit but won't tilt forward without modification.

Front outside door handles are the same. Rear outside door handles are different.

    Craig,

Thanks for the input. Looks like I have a tinted Carlite back glass I can't use, either. I measured both the Comet GT and the 4 door and the trunk and glass are both 2 inches more or less longer on the 4 door. I haven't checked the rear seat, but I am sure you are correct on it, too. Too bad, the interior is excellent.

    Anybody need 4 door parts?

    Jim

The windshield would be the same. If you got room....just hang on to the stuff, somebody might need it eventually (at least that is what I tell myself)

the dash will swap over but theres really not much else on the inside that will.

the only pieces behind the front windshield i can think of would be the tail lights, bumper, vlance, rear, gas tank and the marker lights on the side.

the quarter extensions are diffrent but you might want to hold on to those incase someone is doing a bumper swap on a 4 dr.

I may be interested in a few of those interior parts, if you still have them.
