From the factory, the 1970 Grabber had the 3-piece rear spoilers and dual sport mirrors, but not the twin-scooped Grabber hood. The 1971-72 Grabbers came with the twin-scooped hood, the 3-pc rear spoiler and dual sport mirrors. The 1973 Grabbers had the spoiler and mirrors, but went back to the standard flat hoods. The 1974-75 Grabbers had no spoiler or Grabber hood. The rear spoilers will fit on all 1970-73 model Mavericks and the Grabber hoods will fit on any year Maverick from 1970 to 77. The spoilers will not fit directly on 1974-77 Mavericks or Comets because the quarter extensions are larger on the late model cars. As for front spoilers, there were none from the factory, but there are aftermarket ones available for all years.
MAS in St Paul MN is the maker of the Mav chin spoiler. If you decide to use a chin spoiler, go to the maker to get the best price! Just a heads up. Are you making a factory looking clone, or a restomod? Maverickman, a member here makes some really top notch fiberglass and carbon fiber Grabber stuff. Carbon fiber has a high buy-in price, but it ends up being cheaper than FG after all the trimming/fitting/body work is paid for. That, and you don't even need to paint the CF, he makes some beautiful parts. Bolt right on... Welcome to the board! Dave
Not clone or restomod, I have a factory 72 grabber. Just a 6 cylinder though. It's just that It's been hit in the Passenger rear. Not too bad and I've got it mostly banged out but the fender extension got bent. So I wanted to know what cars to look out for. I paid $350 for the car, cuz I just like them and was looking for an I6. Turns out the hood's worth more than that (lol). Of course, being in a dry part of california, I also wouldn't mind making a buck if I find some rust free sheet metal in some barn or something Thanks for all the help guys. This forum is the best.
Great score! Hope you get the bug to keep it around. They are really fun little cars. This site used to be really awesome for us helping each other with our cars. Just gotta watch out nowadays. The popularity of the cars is booming and there are some unscrupulous types lurking lately. I have some fender extensions laying in a pile, but I don't think any are Grabber. If I was to dig up a spare that is not part of a set, I'll let you know and you just pay shipping. Don't get your hopes up though... I'm 80% sure I don't have it. I check when I get to my shop tomorrow. Dave
I'm gonna keep it alright. I want something that will get some mpg and look cool doin' it. Car is fairly straight. Interior is trashed. Only rust is driver's lower quarter and I just got a panel on ebay. Now to find the time to do it.
I wasn't aware they MADE the spoilers. I think they are made somewhere else and MAS is just a 2nd or 3rd tier retailer on them.
I might just stand corrected. I bought the MAS spoiler under the belief that they made them. It was brought to my attention that they may not. Regardless, they have the best price I have found. I hope this fact helps those that might be interested in the part.
They may have the best price.....that is fine....but they don't MAKE it....so that must make them a nasty retailer. I show my colors right under my name......it is called my TRADER RATING. I let it speak for itself. I think......no, I know...you are now calling ME a scoundrel. You can tell people where to buy stuff. I have a problem with one telling someone where NOT to buy it.
Wow. I'm glad Craig quoted Ratio411 in his post so even though Davie edited his earlier posts everyone can see how he really is. This is no place for people like that. Period. His "mission" is fruitless. Obviously he has too much time on his hands and some jealous vendetta against people who have things that he wants and must not be able to afford. It's easy to be brave and post that kind of garbage from behind a computer. I've went back and read dozens, maybe hundreds, of his posts after seeing some of his crap here. Sure, sometimes he's helpful, but mostly he's just a squeaky wheel. An instigator. A troublemaker. He's found a home here on this board because it must be the only place in the world where he has a voice. It's kind of sad. Maybe we should feel sorry for him... I have a suggestion though; maybe at least he should channel his time and energy into getting some things actually done for the Maverick community. Maybe, as part of his vision quest he should get some Maverick parts reproduced so he could sell them at low prices. I sure would like to have finned aluminum Maverick air cleaners and oil pans to match the Maverick valve covers I got produced. Or maybe he could get one of the diecast companies to produce some more Maverick or Comet versions to go along with the Stallion I helped Motormax with that will be out soon. Or maybe he could get some resin parts produced for Maverick and Comet scale models. I'd sure like to have a scale 3-pc rear spoiler to go along with the stuff I'm already working on. A better chassis and engine compartment would be great too; you know, one with wider wheel wells and a separate rear end, and front inner fenders that really resemble a stock Maverick. Or maybe he could just go around to all the junkyards and places he claims are in his area and gather up all the good Maverick parts still there and resell them all really cheap. Or maybe he could import some of the Brazilian parts everybody wants. I'd sure like to have a couple more Brazilian consoles, tachs, 79 taillights, and quarter window louvers. He's in Florida. There's lots of ports and shipping companies there. That kind of help would mean alot more than alot of hot air.
Sorry Chuck. Talk to Craig. I PM'd him that I was going to remove my comments as a show of respect to him personally. I knew the quote was up, and that is Craig's choice. I overreacted. I was dissapointed in someone who has been here forever helping people and took it personal. Craig is nothing like you, and you don't deserve such quality support IMO. I won't let it get me down.
Hey guys, I don't have a clue what this is all about but I do know I did'nt mean to start it. Just looking for a fender extension
Dave, as you say, Craig been on this BOARD helping people for a long time. I just never seemed to have the extra time to get on here much until recently because I've been helping people with Mavericks and Comets for the last 17 years OUTSIDE this board. Let's see YOU do something REAL for the entire Maverick community and then maybe you'll earn some of MY respect.
Ben, don't worry about it. Clearly it's not your fault. Ratio411 has been stalking all my posts since I started coming here more often. As you know I'm sure, this isn't really normal for this board, at least since T.L. got booted anyway. Virtually everyone is helpful and respectful toward one another. That's the way it should be regardless of someone's personal opinion about another. Sadly, I've forgotten which side extension you need. I may have one overpriced NOS extension available. Email me direct and I'll see if I can help.
