I am looking at going to a Tremec TKO-600 in a 1971 Maverick, and am curious about using the pedals from a Mustang, and possibly a hydraulic or cable clutch. I am using a later model engine without the pivot point for a standard mechanical linkage. Any suggestions?

Using the cable setup will make your conversion infinitely easier.

    I did a T-5 conversion on a 1968 Cougar.

I like the design and parts availablity using later model parts.

Mine is all 1991 Mustang GT from the flywheel back.

The only non-bolt in conversion was cutting a hole in the firewall and having a shop weld the crescent shaped part to my clutch pedal.
Of course I could buy the crossmember and mount for the conversion to T-5 from most any Mustang outfit.

I am not sure how much different the TKO transmission and mount are from the T-5. The T-5 conversion has been done many times on Mavericks.

A friend of mine used 5.0 Stang pedals when he did his T5/cable clutch conversion to his Mav. Took some fabbing, but they worked fine after he got them in.

If you are set on using a linkage setup, the block boss can be cured by using an adapter plate available from Stang parts houses.

I used an old Stang clutch pedal on my 75 in the auto pedal support.
The support and brake pedal were not compatible, so I just did some fabbing to get the Stang pedal in there. I also had to cut the auto brake pedal down to size/shape of a manual brake pedal. Then the pedal pad just pops into place.

I had the old equalizer bar from the Stang as well.
It would have worked with mods, but the Mav bar is easier, so I went to the junkyard and got one rather than squeeze the Stang bar in there.

I used the Mav pedals and the Mustang Steve cable clutch kit from Ebay ($189). It works well, and the pedals require no mods except for welding the quadrant on the top of the clutch pedal.

Yes, it was on Ebay. I'll try and see if he is still selling them. If you search "Cable Clutch Kit", it will come up.

Yeah, still on that bug. I have the peddle assembly from a 87 mustang but I found a maverick clutch peddle & added it to the auto support like Ratio411 did. Earl, thanks for the quadrant advice. That's where i'm at on mine while tring to keep the power brakes setup.
