Mustang control arms

Hey, how's everyone doing?
I have a few questions I'd like to ask...
First, what upper and lower control arms from a Mustang fits the Maverick...the 67-70 or the 71-73?
Also, what's the difference between the 65-66; 67-70 and 71-73 Mustang upper and lower control arms? Are the bolts exactly the same but their measures (control arm length different)? Are their width the same?
I'd like to know if I couls use an earlier one (65-66) in a Maverick (are the bolting pattern the same?) and bennefit from a shorter upper control arm on a increased caster setting...
The same for a longer lower control arm (don't know if Mustang's are longer than the Mavericks).
Also, are the spring shackles the same? What year should I use?
The final question is, have anyone tried the quick steering kit for 65-66 Mustang on a Maverick (is that even possible to do so?)?

i think the 65-66 mustang stuff is really diffrent from what youd find in a maverick. espically the steering and wont work

67-70 stuff will work but i believe the 71-73 upper and lower controll arms are excactly the same as whats on a maverick and would be your best bet for direct replacment

 

65 to 67 Mustang upper arms are essentially the same length, the difference is in the bolt spacing. It's wider for the 67 to 73 arms. I believe the 69 to 73 arms are longer.
The lower arms are specific to 65 & 66. The 67's are a one year only setup but the same length as a 68 lower arms. 68 to 70 lower arms are the same and are 2" longer than the 65-66. I'm not sure about the lca's on 71 to 73 Stangs but they may be longer yet. A shorter upper arm will increase camber not caster.
The quick steering kit might physically bolt to a Maverick box but won't work because the arms have a different shape/bend/drop to them.
The shackles should work but check the length verses the originals.

 

Did I say caster...ooopss...I meant camber...sorry about that...it was a late hour (vey late) post...lol.

So basically what you're saying is that 71-73 is the best way to go in terms of keeping it stock to a Maverick suspension. 67 may have a shorter upper ctrl arm but boltting is not the same...did I get it right?

Actually you may be able to use the 67 upper arm as long as the bolt spacing matches the Mav's. I'm not sure that you'll gain that much camber from the swap though to make it worthwhile, unless you have the arms lying around..

 

The 69-73 matches the Mav for sure right?

as a machinist i think im in the wrong business, i need to be making upper and lower control arms and strut rods.......................did you see the prices on that stuff ?

I used a complete 71 stang kit uppers and lowers in both my cars they worked fine.

 

The front suspension rebuild kit I put on my '72 was for '68-'73 Mustangs. I converted the car to 5 lug with front disc spindles off a '76 Maverick, used '76 Maverick outer tie rod ends. I bolted it all right on, had the car aligned, and it drives great..

However, one issue still remains...
Are the 65-66 or 67 upper arms the same bolting pattern and shorter in length than 68-73?

 

I've never had a 65-67 Mustang, so I have no way of knowing.

 

NO! the 65/66 upper arm bolt spacing is 3 5/8", the 67 is wider. They are at most 1/16" shorter...
