Yes, we have some photos on here with one of them. It had the alum slots, rear window louvers like the ones on my car, Comet hood and grille, hood tach, and a few other noticeable things. Very interesting car.
yea I think they are the same pics in the book. the only thing is they did not kep track of all the vins like they did for the mustangs. I am sure they were still using the 289,s in those cars also.
Well, I have recently sold three of them. I do still have a yellow 71 Grabber that was flooded in Katrina. It's a 302 car and still mostly all there. I'll either part it out or sell it whichever comes first. Lots of very nice parts still on it. I really hate to part it but I just don't have time to build this car again. I still have 2 others that I have to get started on soon. Just not enough time in a day. If you think you might be interested let me know. I can tell you more about it.
It's the yellow one in this pic here. It does have some rust in it but still very restorable. The original color is suppose to be grabber lime. I wanted to paint it back that color but couldn't convince my son that it would look cool. Anyway, that was about 5 years ago Katrina got it 3 years ago. I can send more pics if you want. Just pm me your email address.
ok guys here is what I got. I dont have a scanner so I will pass the info this way. the man who but the shelby de mexico cars built the shelby maverick. from the info I got it says there were approximatly 300 car converted. they were maverick grabbers with a comet gt from clip. they had 289 hipo,s shelby mags, front and rear spoilers, hood tachs, and I read somewhere someone said they had shelby taillights, they did not, they had maverick taillights. there were also 289 shelby equipped emblems on the fenders. the man who built the cars has passed away so there is no way to get the correct info. the maverick info in the shelby book is with the shelby de mexico section. they also had shelby engine aluminum items. also rear window louvers. if I find anymore info I will put it on here. any question just ask.Jesse
I believe we have been through this before. The car in the picture has a Comet front end with Comet tail lights. But it has a Maverick front bumper. I think the Shelby Maverick is a Shelby Comet.
I vote it's a Shelby Comet GT super luxo special numbered edition signature series multi- optioned rare show car, but that's just a guess.D
Well, i...... ah ....can't really say because....... ah ...... it's top secret info.... and.... ah, i gotta go...... yeah, thats right..... bye.
Totally disagree with this coment. 1.-The transmission on my Mexican Maverick is as strong as any as a result of the fact that it was built mostly with US made parts. 2.-It is the same transmission used in many other factory 4 speed cars Ford built here in the USA. And just as a matter of fact, my Maverick was built in Mexico and before I completed elementary school, text books placed Mexico in North America and not in South America. The only "South American" Maverick ever built was in fact the Brazilian one. As for the Shelby Mav. Well if it was only stickers and "hood-scoops and spoilers", fact is there WAS a Shelby Maverick and your opinion does not change that fact. My opinion I guess.......
