    has anyone thought or tried to put a flathead into a maverick?? that would be pretty cool to see i think. To much power though:cry:. just wondering

    My uncle used to have a lot of flathead parts. I considered a flathead powered Pinto but never did it.

    The Ford Flatheads only had 221 cu "..... not so much power as you might think.
    The original Ford small block was introduced with 221 cu" in 1962 and it lasted about 1/2 year. Then they came out with the 260, 289 and finally the 302 in 1968. In 1969 the 351W was introduced in both 2 bbl and 4 bbl versions - It is the longest lived FSB ever mass produced in cars sold to the public.
    To give credit where credit is due, 1969 was also the introduction of the Boss 302 and the 429 which turned into the 429 CJ in 1970.
    One thing becomes clear... cubic inches is what it is all about!
