Speaking of doors, they keep coming up in postings, will all Maverick doors interchange? I mean I have a 72, so will for example a 73's fit on my car? I read somewhere that the 73s and above have a reinforced beam in them? and are heavier than the older cars? If they do interchange, then I might get one that is in better condition than mine at a salvage yard. Thoughts and reflections appreciated!
Yes, all 70-77 Maverick/Comet doors interchange 2-door to 2-door, 4-door to 4-door. The only differences will be the 73-77's having the reinforcment rail inside, and the 73-77's had a different arm rest and inside door handle placement
Thanks Ah, so will the earlier model inside door panels fit/ act the same if placed on the newer model doors? Will it matter in any way?
The door panels will fit across the years, but keep in mind that there are differences in the locations of the arm rest and interior door handles. The earlier Mavericks had simple, straight across arm rest which I believe only require two holes in the door panels. The later Mavericks have a completly different shaped arm rest requiring three holes in the panel. Another small difference in the actual doors is the early Mavericks have a textured finish on the insides of the doors, while the later Maverick doors have a smooth finish.
