Does anyone know where I can find a gas tank for a 69.5/70 mav??? As most of you know, this was the only year that had the drop in type tank (no straps) similar to the first generation Mustang/Falcon. I cannot locate one anywhere. Perhaps there is an aftermarket out there or a way to modify a tank from a different application. I have the old tank but it has too many holes to repair. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

If you have the old tank....I would get it repaired. Those tanks are VERY hard to find. If you did find another tank....it would probably need repaired as well. Plus....those that know what they have usually ask an appropriate price for the tank because of how rare it is.

I have one. Not willing to ship. If you are near Indiana...maybe you can swing by here and pick it up. Email me directly (see below) if I can help.

You can send the worst tank in the world to RENU and they will make it perfect again. I had this done along time ago for a project and it was very expensive - but it was an awesome job and worth it for the work they did.

    Check them out ........... http://gastankrenu.com/

    '70 Fuel Tank

I'm having the same issue. Has anyone out there looked into the (very) remote possibility that an old style Mustang tank would work? My '70 Mav tank looks very much like the one in my '68 Torino and my sister's '68 Mustang, but both are in winter storage and I can't easily get to them to measure.
At any rate, if anyone has already spent the time looking to research this idea let me know and I'll drop it now.
    Thanks!

Also, I spoke with RENU and they said it'd be about $300. It does look very nice, though.

Looks like I found a tank in Colorado Springs that is rock solid. I am still going to get it lined at a local radiator shop here in San Antonio. I will keep my old tank in the event anyone needs one as a core to send to RENU for a refurb. Thanks for all of your help.

What did the tank in Colorado Springs cost, if I may ask? :)

Thats not all. I got a compelete interior out of 73 that had the reclining front bucket seat option for just $100.00. I going back up there next month to get a stock unmolested 302 out of the same 73 for just $200.00 and a set of clutch/brake pedals out of a 70 for $25. While I am there I am going to find a V-8 donor maverick/granada with factory non-powered disc brakes and get those parts as well to convert my old front drum brakes. My real challenge at this point is finding a Lincoln Versailles 9 inch rear-end so I can put disc brakes on the rear as well as handle the additon power of the 302. If I can't find a Versailles rear-end I will settle for a 9 inch with drums.

That's a lot of good parts for good prices. I was lucky enough to get my 9 inch disc Versailles rear for 100.00 years ago. They're getting harder to find.

No kidding on the Versailles rear-end. I found one on Car-Part.com but the yard wanted $1000.00

I did a search on here and found an old post from someone who modded an early mustang tank to fit. can't remember exactly who did it though. I am going to replace mine all together with an aftermarket piece from summit. my tank is completely rotted on the bottom. been running the car off a 1 gallon gas tank to move it around.
