Personally I have seen the 4.6l to be a reliable engine.
That whole family of engines are the smoothest running engines ford has ever put out.

Pertaining to the 4.6l dohc.... Where else can you buy a motor for 400.00-1200 and have a stock block capable of 1200 hp

My friends mustang ran high tens with mild head porting and a cam swap...
He then switched back to original cams added a blower and goes low 9s...
It's his daily driver to boot(y)

i agree with that statement for MOST romeo's. but the windsors in the trucks and other fullsize vecs..... not so much. they accelerate smoothly when runnin right, but most of them have a slight stumble while idling that will wake you from a good sleep on a long trip while at a stop. at least me that is! lol but i have felt some romeos do it to... i know ford put out alot of TSBS about it... blah blah blah,, it still drives me crazy. either way, they are all smoother than any ford OHV motor!

    i still hate em.

This may sound off the wall but what about a 4.7 Chrysler. They run great and make decent power with the HO cams. If you want to be really different just a thought. Most people would never know what engine it was. It kind of looks like a mod motor. You guys dont go getting all upset on me now. It was just a thought that popped into my head.

Rear sump. I have one sitting in a '73 right now, and it's a no go without a Mustang II front.
