Greetings fellow enthusiasts: We are joining the Hot Rod POWER TOUR in Madison, Wisconsin on June 6th with a '75 Comet , and a '71 Maverick Grabber and will be traveling through several States to our destination in Bristol , Tennessee. Are there any other Maverick or Comet owners interested in joining the run for the entire trip , or just a part of it , or just visit one of the stops ?? Its always a grin and there are usually about 2000 cars on the run .. not counting those that hook up with the run along the way in various States and cities. One of our stops is in Somerset , KY where we will meet Mr.Hahn and his brother with their beautiful cars . We also have a stop in Dayton , Ohio , Mt.Clemens, Michigan, South Bend , Indiana ..Racine Wisconsin , Madison , Wisconsin of course and finally ending up in Bristol , Tennessee. We are doing a video of the trip this time and will be putting it online for all those who may be interested (details to follow) . The previous four Power Tours were photographed only and those are already online. Anyway , it would be great to meet some other folks out there that share our interest in these great little cars and make a showing of a really classy brand of Ford thats all too sparse in the public eye as far as I am concerned. We always receive a LOT of attention with these cars on the tours and I think it would be a hoot to see a bunch of Mavericks and Comets on the tour to show the world there are other worthy Fords out here that aren't Mustangs. Anybody interested ?? Please respond .. Thanks .. Chip
I'm interested but neither I nor my car can make it. Maybe next year. July 16-19 in Joplin is the MCG gathering.
I built my car with the intention of doing the Power Tour, but once again, work has got in the way, maybe next year.....
Hot Rod POWER TOUR The new one isn't ready yet.. it will be really close but I wouldn't want to take a new engine and break it in on a steady pull like it would be. I'd really like to take it but I can wait until next year ( Lord willing) . I'm taking the 75 Comet . Its fuel injected and has made the last five without skipping a beat and the last two times it was fuel injected which made a big difference in the mileage as well as performance. Alex is taking the 71 Grabber like last time and we'll be running together. I'm calling all the guys and gals along the way in the States we'll be running through in hopes of meeting most of them and saying hello. This one should be great .. we're passing through Chicago on the way up so I'm going to stop at RICCOBENES Beef Stand ( Famous place) to pick up some of their hot peppers and have a couple of their famous beef sandwiches while there . I think Alex is hooked on them.. he's been trying to get his wife Nancy to make them just like RICCOBENES ..ha. Well friend.. I'm sorry you can't make it ..maybe next year . Its a real hoot to travel on them and I truly enjoy meeting all the nice folks on them . Hope you can join us in the future. Chip.
July Gathering Hello Bob: I hope you can make it next year .( I hope "I" can make it next year.ha) . I'm going to try to make your meet in July with a couple of other guys here in Florida . Tony Hahn and I have been communicating on this and it sounds like a really great event. Maybe by then I'll have the other car finished. It would be a good test on the car to drive there from Florida . We'll see eh ? Anyway .. sorry you couldn't make it this year ..I'm preparing now for the trip getting everything together .. tools, spare tires, jack, jackstands, clothing fan belts , alternatators and things that I could not replace on the road. We really don't push it much or 75-80 . The Grabber has an AOD and the Comet a Tremec 5 speed OD so we get pretty good gas mileage and don't work the engines that hard. Most always we hook up with some others heading to the Tour on the road and its interesting driving among all these beautiful cars .. Corvettes, Mustangs, GTO's .. Coupes and Sedans of all types .. its like a parade sometimes. Thats one of the best things of the tour .. getting there.. Chip
