I heard that mustang 2s had good front end parts for large motors and a good posi rearend that would bolt right in? Is this true? Im wanting to run a 429 4barrel IF this is true does it matter if the car is a v8 car or not (the mustang 2)
If you are going to do a 429 swap... Get a 9 inch rear end. Do the MII swap but dont use the parts from an MII Get new components from Fat man fabricatios or one of the other Outfits that make MII kits for street rods. You will have more work than its worth trying to use the front suspension/crossmember from an original MII The MII swap allowes you to eliminate the shock towers so you can stuff a 429 in a mav.
I agree 100% on the aftermarket cross member. Why mess with a 30+year old piece of greasy, stressed out, formed steel cross member that was built to only fit a Mustang II. Aftermarket will cost you a few hundred bucks and will be made out of new thicker steel tubing. And it looks a lot nicer too. PS: Welcome to Maverick Land!!
ok i may be wrong here but the only factory 8 in posi i know of was in the rancheros? and i thought the mustang 2s went to the 6.9 and 7.5 which means that your much better off with the 8in?
SOME! ! mustang 2's do have a posi rear and they are 8'' just take the third member (good find at a junk yard) if it's in good condition
