does a 67 9 inch bolt in a mav? what else besides a versailles or whatever? found a vers complete on craigslist dude wants 1200 for it.
'67-'70 will bolt in but it's even wider than the versailles rear so u really have to watch your wheel choices when it comes to offset
I am getting a 9 inch rear from maverick_maniac with 3.50 gears and trac loc! Contact him he will set you up good! And probably cheaper then that versailes rearend!
When I put a 9in in mine,I just ordered one from strange. My 9in came out of a t/bolt but the tubes were bent and twisted. It would have cost more to repair than to buy new,and it came drum to drum with all new bearings, seals and brakes. All I had to do was give them my measurements. It came with a stock center section,so I changed my pod into it and sold the other one.
$1200 is about $700 too much for a complete Versailles (whole car) You're only going to be able to use the front disc spindles (and need Mustang Steve adapter bushings to work) and the 9" rear. Might be a plus if it's also got a D8VE blocked 302 or a 351W in it.
yah (( maverick maniac )) can set you up with a mustang rearend that is shortened to mav length for a good price ?? and you use your same axles ----- i got one but have not used it yet
9-inch rear end for Maverick I've been told & I have looked at some 9-inch rearends from a Ford Explorer, early models. And I found that it relatively was the same as the 8-inch in lenght from plate to plate. And the advantage also, was that they have Disc Brakes, if your looking for something with Disc's. Otherwise, if you want Disc Brakes you'll end up having to buy a aftermarket conversion kit which they make. The conversion kits can get pretty pricey appox. $600.00 bucks. You should be able to find a complete rear w/Disc at a Salvage Yard for about $250.00. I had purchased a complete 9-inch rear end out of a Ford F-150 w/Full Positrack & 4:11 gears completely rebuilt for $200.00 Bucks. The downside of this purchase is that I have to have cut down to fit the stock 8-inch lenght. 56-1/2 plate to plate. The cost to have this done is approx. $650.00, but this includes new leafspring perches & Strange Axles plus labor. If, your not wanting to put alot of $$$$ into to this, I would go with finding a Versailles 9-inch or a 66-67 Mustang 9-inch rearend which should bolt right up. Hope, that some of this info would help you decide. Rob
Nine inch rears were NEVER installed in any Explorers by Ford. And good luck finding a 65-70 Mustang 9" rear. You'd have better luck finding a 57-59 Ford 9".
