I know that Broncos came with 9 inch rears but thay did not have disc brakes.

My Explorer has disc brakes but is an 8.8 rear.

The 9 inch rear in my Maverick came from a Lincoln Versailles and all of them came with disc brakes. Some 9 inch rears were installed in the Granada and Monarch but they could have been disc or drum brakes.
These 9 inch rears bolt right in place of the 8 inch but are an inch per side wider. You can hardly notice the difference.

All 3 of the cars mentioned were all built on the same platform.

I feel sorry for ya fellows. Up here in Alberta Canada I can go to several auto wreckers and pull 9" diffs out of various 57-59 ford cars. The wrecker that I picked up my 9" from had at least 10-15 late fifties cars with these diffs. The 57-59 full size car diff is a direct bolt in. The only modifications required are for the centering holes and the spring plates. The holes need to be oblonged to fit the required bigger ubolts. All in all I bought the diff for 250 bucks, moser axles for 550, and pulled the detroit locker out of an old 79 f150 I have kicking around. Oh ya bought a set of 4:30 gears for a couple hun too. Works awesome, hitting 6500 at the end of the track with 28" tires.

You must have less street rodders/drag racers up in your area for all of those rears to be still there for the picking.

All somebody has to do is start a rumor that there's one of those rears in a local junk yard and they'll be more than a few racers standing in line to get in the next morning to compete in the mad rush. :)

That's too bad. When the snow leaves in Apr or May I will head out there and take some pictures. I guess I just didn't realize how lucky we are.
We even had one sitting in the bush on our farm but my dad snagged that one for his 63 fairlane.

Too bad it wasn't more cost effective to ship these darn things, I could make some quick cash off of this.

Geez maybe I should. I just lost my job and need a way to make some quick cash.LOL. I tell you what though, if I am ever going for a drive down that way I will load a half dozen of them up and bring them on down. And just so you know, they really aren't everywhere up here, i have just lucked out and found an old wrecker that must have 20 of these things just laying in the grass under cars. Next time I drive out there I will have to take some pictures for you guys!
