I found a 72 grabber that im gonna look at tomorrow and you know the story "original boss 302" so i guess he wants to keep the motor well i would like to know how to show him that it is not a boss 302.
The Boss 302 will simply have Cleveland heads on it. Just count the valve cover bolts and, if it is a Boss, it will have 8 bolts on the covers. Now it could also be a full complete Cleveland and that is where you need to look at more things beside the cover bolts. One big thing. on a full Cleveland, is the water neck is not in the intake manifold, it is in the top of the block, next to the distributor. Check the link in the last post for more to look for. There is a picture of my Cleveland in my "Images" link for reference. Let us know what you find. Take a camera with you.
The valve cover bolts and the screw in block core plugs are the biggest hits. Manifold will have a FoMoCo part number on it. Ford toyed with the idea of the Boss 302s going in the Mavericks in 1970 but didn't want the sells of Boss 302 Mustangs to take a hit. The mavericks were already killing them in sales. Only Ford that outsold the Mustang's first 18 months was the Maverick.
