There are 2 different ones, some have a notch for the trim or something like that.

The only difference is a rounded corner on the early ones, and a squared off corner to match the body trim. Otherwise, anyone should fit any car.

are you talking about the difference in shape of the end or are you talking about how they fit into the corner? the ones off my 74 comet were just slightly off for the corner. i was able to VERY gently bend it just a hair so it would fit in the corner.. that is a roofline weld joint so i suspect it is not perfectly the same every time? also the comet had flat ends for the chrome to line up, grabber stock had a slight rounding. only a few members of the board would be able to tell now that their on the car though... ;)

The one on the left is squared off - right is rounded - but they all bolt up the same.

    :)

on mine the 71 is taller. so the screw holle wont line up. if bend this gently can i just tap a new hole? or is it better to just get the 71 rechromed?

They should all be the same. You may need to drill a different hole.

how far off is it. before drilling, double check all the alingment points including the hole the bottom stud goes in. it could be filled with bondo or sealer that makes it appear smaller and keeps you from being able to line up the top. it is a slotted hole to make up for a minor amount of adjustment.

i think i'll just rechrome the origial, it seems to me that there is a diff between the two, not only in ends and corners. but also in hieght. i thought i would be able to swap out a fender from my 74 also, and that would'nt fly, so why should this? BECAUSE SOMEONE PUT A MUSTANG FRONT CLIP ON A MAV. somethings just don't work for me!
