Hi to all, folks, I want to ask you something about the stroke for my maverick 1973 with 289 motor from mexico city, actually in restoration phase. I'm looking for a kit and I found two from summit here is the links. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SCA-1-45305BE/ http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SCA-1-94165BE/ what is your opinion about it? Can you suggest me anything I'm new in this.
One has a forged steel crank and higher comp.ratio. The other is a cast crank. The forged is better but it depends on what your doing with the car
It really depends on what your goal is, the 9000 cast is plenty enough for 600HP which is around the max a Mexican block can be put to. They also have a 331 kit that is more affordable.
If you're using a production Ford block just run the cast crank, the block will split before you hurt the crank. If you have an aftermarket block step up to the forged internals.
My block is production 289 ford and I dont know if I have to change it to 302 production? or 289 works?
289 will work, the only difference is the size of the crank/rods....Otherwise its the same thing as a 302.
