A 9 inch rear that came out of a full sized Ford is way too wide to fit in a Maverick/Comet unless it came out of a 57 Ford plus the ones in the pictures are all coil spring rears. You would have to convert to leaf springs and then shorten the housing. With that kind of investment, you would be better off buying a new housing :)

The one in the bottom pic looks like a 9-3/8 rear. Can't tell about the other two. Same housing as a 9, but the center section is different with a larger ring gear.

Even more reason to stay away - you definitly don't want a 9 3/8 (y)

57-59 were the same. I think 60 Edsel and Starline were the same also.

Any of those will do if you're looking for a narrowing donor rear, but I'd pay no more than $50 a piece for them. All you're going to use in this case (narrowing) is the housing itself. Be that as it may, there are also better choices for a 9" to narrow (8.8 rears too) One from a late 70's to mid 80's will yeild you a 9" with traction loc, 31 spline axles and most likely a 3.50 gear ratio. I bought an 82 Bronco 9" to use in mine for $150 equipped like this. Any of the 90's Explorer 8.8's are good candidates too, all are 31 spline, many have traction loc, and come in several ratios, 3.08, 3.55, 3.73 and a few had 4.11's
