Anything good on these i should grab? this is his ad http://www.usednanaimo.com/classified-ad/1976-Ford-Capri-parts-or-parts-car_16628491 was thinking maybe about there seats, visors? steering wheel? im about to google and see what seats they came with and what not.
God, ain't seen one of those in years. It's a German built car as I recall.(or maybe just the engine?) The V6 was later used as a basis for the Ranger V6's.
Actually it was called a Mercury Capri and it was a German built car. I don't think anything is compatable.
Man even more rare than a MAverick up here. We test drove one of those new with my dad. HE loved it but too small. Ended up with a Cougar. It is German and the 2.8 is the same noisy little bugger that was found later in all those rotten, rusty Rangers and Bronco2's. Used to be a real nice Yellow Capri around here with a 289 4 speed.
how on earth did a car built in my hometown end up in such a beautiful place like nanaimo? nothing compatible on it, completely different car. but why not get it altogether and restore it? i'd be able to provide you with lots of parts from over here!
I drove one of those in England for a few years when i was staioned there. Mine was a Ford Capri. Good running car it just had one small issue.......Everything was on the wrong side!
It's been a long time since I seen one here too, it's weird how they dropped out of sight and they were cool little cars.
owned one of those when i was in my twenties.ran great when it ran.lol but you couldnt find parts for them here. ended up selling it for fifty bucks to some kid in dayton oh. poor kid lol
Wow how did that end up there?? I have had about 10 of them. A 76 car could have had what they called an Essex v6 3.0 but may have been fitted with the 2.8 Cologne v6. They both look the same but the 3.0 has 3 exhaust ports and the 2.8 has 2 per side. Looks like the car has export bumpers on it which are twice the size of the ones we fit here in the uk. Plenty of cheap parts available for the mechanics but body panels are very expensive so beware. Regards Phil
it's been the ford capri over here, this should give a good overview: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Capri there's one interesting side story to this car: a ford engineer founded a company called 'Mako' - named after a shark - and produced a small series of capris, roughly 30 cars, equipped with a boss 302 v8 and a toploader transmission. this makes them pretty rare and unique. i had the chance to see and drive one of them, a spectacular ride.
I had a 71 Capri. It was a 2.0L with a 4 spd. I liked the car but the body rotted out in a few years. They were German made. I never could figure out why German cars rotted out so bad. They have more snow than we do in the U.S.! The heaters are also mediocre for cars that come from a cold country!
There is one about 5 minutes away from me. The owner drives it all the time and it looks to be in really good condition.
